"For Martha" is an epic and highly acclaimed song by the Smashing Pumpkins, which appeared on their fourth studio album Adore. It is the 14th track on the album and the longest, coming in at 8:17 long.
"For Martha" was written by Billy Corgan and is said to be about Billy's mother, who died before the recording of the album. "For Martha" is also notable, as it is one of the tracks on Adore, along with "Crestfallen" and "Annie-Dog", that features piano as a dominant instrument, contrasting with the Smashing Pumpkins' earlier work, which was much more guitar based.
It is the only song on Adore to feature Matt Cameron's drumming, despite contributing his drumming on seven tracks considered for Adore.
