Interpersonal Media: Online Communities (COM 482) is a broad course that aims to help students understand how relationships and groups are formed using social media with a particular focus on collaboration, conflict, and the creation and maintenance of online communities. On important goal of the course as it being taught in Fall 2014 is to help students analyze, understand, and contribute to an existing community constructively. Toward that end, we will spend a big chunk of the class understanding Wikipedia, it's policies, norms, and goals and then putting this knowledge into action by contributing constructively to Wikipedia and reflecting on this process.
