WikiProject Companies To-do:

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:

New template

I've started to introduce a new infobox template for Railway companies, primarily in the UK. The template is simple, yet effective at bringing uniformity to the articles. The template allows the operator's logo to be placed on a background colour suited to the operator as well as enabling there to be an image showcasing a typical train operated by the firm and some key statistics that are of interest.

The Rail companies infobox is shown on the pages with green links below.

Image Size

I've uploaded a new logo for Northern Spirit which is from its official website, however it is too big in the article, is there a way to adjust the size in the infobox without having to upload another version? Danielnez1 19:40, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary regions

I've modified the code of the template so that the secondary regions/routes/etc. field is now optional: on the CrossCountry article this field was empty, so seemed unnecessary. --RFBailey (talk) 23:59, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Support for route diagram required.

I am proposing adding functionality to add a route diagram to the infobox in the same way as {{Infobox rail line}} does. This is required for the Gautrain article, as this template is still the most suited infobox for the article, but lacks this critical field/functionality. G.A.Stalk 10:37, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have recoded the infobox in my userspace here[Link removed -- G.A.Stalk 12:40, 10 June 2010 (UTC)], and thoroughly tested it as well here[Link removed -- G.A.Stalk 12:40, 10 June 2010 (UTC)]. In the absence of comment, this template's code will be updated shortly. G.A.Stalk 12:00, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Logo handling

Why are logos in this infobox handled differently from every other infobox company I've seen? Usually it just has a logo field where you put the image as you normally would, but this splits it up into logo_filename and logo_width. It's really annoying and arbitrary. -- Love, Smurfy 20:03, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Examples, please (so I can investigate)? I presume that this is a legacy issue though (long before I edited the template—I merely added the ability to specify logo_width as an optional parameter). G.A.Stalk 04:28, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Headquarters

It should say where each company is/was based on the template e.g. Southern is based in Tonbridge. Pdiddyjr (talk) 19:10, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Accessibility of talk page =

The sections above use red and green to indicate different things,; this is a breach of MOS:COLOUR because people who are colour-blind cant distinguish them. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:45, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is really bad. A good example of the worst. But I don't know what it is doing here. Secondarywaltz (talk) 19:41, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
