Inés of My Soul
"Inés of My Soul" is a [[historical novel]] by Chilean author Isabel Allende, that relates the life of Inés Suárez, first Spanish woman to arrive in Chile. It narrates her relationship with Pedro of Valdivia and the obstacles they had to overcome to conquer Chile and found the City of Santiago.
Plot
The novel relates the main facts of the life of Inés, as written to be read by her adoptive daughter Isabel.
In the first chapter, "Europe, 1500-1537", she describes life in Plasencia, mainly of her married life and affair with Juan of Málaga, in addition to her hard trip to America, motivated not only to find to her stray husband, but also to find freedom.
In "America, 1537-1540", relates us the life of her in The Cuzco, the decadence of the empire Inca under Francisco Pizarro and the political problems that there lived . Also, as it goes forming the obsession of Pedro of Valdivia for conquering Chile, promoted by what explained him the old Diego of Almagro.
In the chapters of "Trip to Chile, 1540-1541" and "Santiago of the New Extremadura, 1541-1543" speech on the hard conquest of Chile where begins his life of couple with Pedro of Valdivia and as it founded the capital of the country beside him.
In "The Tragic Years, 1543-1549" narrates the most suffered period and poor of the first years of Santiago and his back marriage with Rodrigo of Quiroga when Pedro of Valdivia goes back of an expedition to the Peru in search of more soldiers and colonos.
Finally, in the last chapter describes the starts of the War of Chile between Spaniards and Mapuches under the orders of Lautaro and Caupolicán.
Dramatic structure
This work stands out for being faithful to the reality of the facts (Allende details the bibliography consulted for his work and that investigated by four years of "avid readings") and by the rich relate romantic that uses the author to trap to the reader. Also it is a book of big like as really it has complicated to the readers with his change of characters of narrator, since it is purportedly related by an old Inés Suárez that it distracts easily and account in disorder some details of his life and that in reality writes heading to his daughter. Has a big capacity to take part with the doubts of the reader to clear them, like this the reading does less complex and easier to understand and criticise.
Characters
Beyond sample to Mrs. Inés like a woman with extremado prowess, had to do everything by the man to the that loves, but without shelving his purposes neither his honour, neither his anxieties to conquer new earths.
Although it is centralised in Inés Suárez, to whiles sounds to relate historical extreme, but gives the impression of desunión extreme with the rest of the relate that more than at all is a romantic #narration and subjetivista of the same, as for example in the moments of the previous life of Pedro of Valdivia or of some wars that occur in the Peru.
In the book, Isabel Allende leaves to glimpse the lacks of the first conquistadores of the Realm of Chile and his constant abuses on the village mapuche. Descarnadas Are the descriptions of slaughterings that Beyond delivery on each fight between mapuche and Spaniards. However, it balances very well the ferocity of the edicts, that is to say all suffer his just measure.
Other characters of the novel are Pedro of Valdivia, Rodrigo of Quiroga, Francisco of Aguirre, Juan of Málaga, Marina Ortiz of Gaete, Juan Gómez and his wife Cecilia, Catalina one native servant and the best friend of the leading and Felipe (Lautaro), the one who in a principle is server of Pedro of Valdivia but afterwards escapes with the village mapuche.
