John Sitilides

John Sitilides (Born February 8, 1962, Jersey City, New Jersey is a government relations and international relations specialist, serving as Principal at Trilogy Advisors LLC.

In partnership with former Members of Congress, he manages a client portfolio including environmental regulation, private property rights, energy technology, and natural resources issues.

Current projects include federal budget authorization and water infrastructure projects, Clean Water Act wetlands permitting, and technology communication strategies.

Sitilides serves on the Board of Directors of 3doo, Inc., a global 3-D media technology company, and of Biovest International, a biopharmaceutical company developing personalized cancer vaccines to treat non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and other blood cancers.

Under a U.S. government contract, Sitilides manages the U.S. State Department's professional development program for senior U.S. diplomats in Greece and Cyprus, in conjunction with the Turkey program.

Twice recognized by the State Department for expertise in public policy and international relations, Sitilides speaks on American politics and geopolitical risk at investor and business conferences, and before government, military and intelligence community audiences.

Education

Sitilides received his Master's Degree in International Affairs at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in 1986, with specialization in International Security Policy and Western European Affairs, and his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Queens College in 1983.

Career

Sitilides began as a communications and legislative aide to U.S. Senator Al D'Amato (Republican of New York) from 1985 to 1993, and on the senator's two successful re-election campaigns. He was a government affairs strategist to AKT Development Corporation, a major land development corporation in Sacramento, California, where he managed Congressional & Executive branch agency lobbying & communications strategies on federal wetlands, endangered species, and property rights issues from 1993 to 1997.

In 1998, he launched the Western Policy Center, a Washington, D.C. international relations organization researching and forecasting U.S. political, commercial and security issues in southeastern Europe. After seven years as Executive Director, overseeing strategic planning, policy analysis, political and corporate communications, and financial management, he negotiated its merger with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars to establish the Southeast Europe Project, where he served as Chairman, Board of Advisors from 2005–2010. He also served on the Commerce Department’s U.S.-Greece Initiative for Technology Cooperation in the Balkans.

Twice formally recognized by the State Department for international affairs expertise, Sitilides has testified before Congress on U.S.-European relations[1] and delivered geopolitical risk analyses at the Istanbul World Political Forum (2012 and 2013), the Institutional Investor Family Office Wealth Management Forum, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S. Joint Forces Command, the U.S. Army Management Training Center, and the National Defense University.

A media commentator on national politics and global affairs, Sitilides has been interviewed or featured in U.S., European and other international broadcast, print and new media including: Fox News Channel,[2][3] CNN, CNN International, The New York Times,[4] The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, The Weekly Standard, Associated Press, Bloomberg News, TheStreet.com,[5] Kiplinger Business Forecasts, BBC News, Asia Times, National Public Radio, Voice of America,[6] and Radio Free Europe.

Sitilides serves on the Board of Directors of International Orthodox Christian Charities, a global humanitarian organization; Leadership 100, a national Greek Orthodox foundation; and on the Parish Council of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, MD.

A member of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, the Association of Former Senate Aides, and the Columbia University Club of Washington, D.C., he received the 2007 “Greek Letters and Culture Award” for his contributions to the advancement of classical knowledge in American education, religion and culture.
