Walter Wild
Walter Wild – known in Catalan as Gualteri Wild (born in Zurich, October 13, 1872) – was an Swiss tradesman[1], football player and oldest of the twelve club members present at the meeting where FC Barcelona was founded. He was club's first president for 513 days from December 13, 1899 to December 27, 1900, being re-elected three times but eventually resigning due to work.[2]
He combined his duties as president with playing, having played total of ten matches for the club including the very first one. His main achievement for the club was getting its first home ground at Hotel Casanovas. After his resignation Wild was awarded honorary president of the club in recognition for his contribution to the club but having moved to London (which gave widespread mistake of attributing British nationality) showed little further interest in the club until 1949 when He returned as Honorary Guest on the FC Barcelona's 50th Anniversary.[3]
