On 20 December 2015, a pile of construction waste, piled against a hill, came down in an avalanche of mud and debris at 11:40 am, destroying 33 buildings and covering an area of more than 10 hectares with mud in Guangming New District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.[1].
More than 1500 emergency rescuers were involved in the search for people trapped under the mud; 91 people are still missing.[2][1]
A nearby section of the West–East Gas Pipeline has exploded.
