Frank Schaeffer (born August 3 1952), an American author, film director, and speaker, is currently most famous for his Military Trilogy. The three books are about the present day U.S. Marine Corps and how the lives of the Marines and their families have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The first book was written with Schaeffer’s son John who joined the Marines straight out of high school.

Schaeffer is also well known for the Calvin Becker Trilogy. The three critically acclaimed novels are about a young boy named Calvin Becker who grows up in a strict, fundamentalist missionary home in Switzerland. The books are very controversial in that the characters are similar to Schaeffer’s real family, which include his parents, Francis Schaeffer and Edith Schaeffer, who founded the L'Abri community in Switzerland. Schaeffer however does have a disclaimer in the front of some of the books published stating that the characters “are fictitious, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.” Many reviewers have hailed the books as being very funny and entertaining, and they have been translated into eight languages.
