Ylona Jade Navalle Garcia (born February 28, 2002) is a Filipino-Australian teen TV personality, actress, commercial model, and singer-songwriter, of dual Australian and Filipino citizenship. Garcia rose to prominence as a contestant in the reality television show Pinoy Big Brother, crowning as first runner-up (2nd Teen Big Placer).[1]
Early life
Garcia was born and raised in Sydney, Australia to Filipino parents; the third among five siblings. Both of her parents, Peter Garcia and Caridad Navalle-Garcia, are practitioners in the medical field, but she has more interest in performing arts. At a very young age, she has already performed as front act for various Filipino artists during their tour in Australia. These artists include Martin Nievera, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo.[2]
Acting career
Garcia auditioned as a housemate of Big Brother's house and successfully entered in 2015 in Pinoy Big Brother: 737. She won as first runner-up (2nd Teen Big Placer), making her the youngest contestant to win that title in the whole franchise.[3][4]
In November 2015, Garcia joined the cast of On the Wings of Love as Audrey Olivar, marking as her acting debut after her Pinoy Big Brother stint.[5][6]
Music career
In June 2015, Garcia recorded her original song "Win the Fight" which she composed inside the Big Brother House with fellow contestant, Jimboy Martin.[7] The next month, she recorded another song "Magmahal Muli" (Lit. To Love Again) with another fellow contestant, Bailey May,[8] which was composed and first sung by Sam Milby and Say Alonzo way back from 2005's season one.[9] On August 9, 2015, both songs were released on Spotify. In the same month, Garcia, with her fellow contestants Bailey May, Jimboy Martin and Franco Rodriguez, wrote an unreleased song titled "Stay Positive" in celebration of PBB's tenth year anniversary.[10]
At the end of 2015, Star Music named Garcia as their representative for #SpotifySpotlight in 2016.[11]
Personal life
Garcia is very close friends with Bailey May, a fellow housemate that she met inside the PBB house.[12][13]
