The 1998-99 NBA season was the 76ers 50th season in the NBA and 36th season in Philadelphia.[1] The Sixers selected Larry Hughes as their eight pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. They would return to the playoffs after a seven-year playoff drought. They finished third in the Atlantic Division with a 28-22 record. Allen Iverson led the league with 26.8 points, and 41.5 minutes per game.

In the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, the Sixers defeated the #3 seed Orlando Magic in four games, but were swept by the Indiana Pacers in the semifinals.
