Proischnura polychromatica, the Mauve Bluet, is a is a species of damselfly in the family Coenagrionidae.
Distribution
It is endemic to South Africa. Restricted to a small area in the Western Cape Province
Status
Critically endangered.It is threatened by habitat loss.
Habitat
Its natural habitat is rivers frequenting drying pools in stream- and riverbeds that have floating vegitation.[2][3]
Identification
Very small, ♂ darkish, deep bronze green and bluish mauve, with blue or violet abdominal tip with mauve postocular spots.♀ is buff-coloured where ♂ is mauve. [2][3]
