Fleming Family & Partners

Can't quite puzzle out how Fleming Family & Partners was moved so quickly and then deletedd, without any discussion or it ever being PRODed. I created it in April 2015 at the same time as Adam Fleming (businessman). It is/was a notable company with which I have no connection. The article was certainly never intended to be promotional. Help! Edwardx (talk) 17:59, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edwardx, it was speedy deleted four times by three different admins recently, clearly blatant spam. However, none of us looked back in the history far enough, I've restored to the September 2015 version, before BexSkelly got started on it. I'll warn and block if he persists, sorry for inconvenience. Let me know if you object to the page move Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:19, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt action and response. That all makes sense, as does the page move following the merger. I'm happy with the stripped back simple version, and will monitor it to help ensure it remains NPOV and spam-free. Alas, there seem to be more people out there keen to add that sort of stuff than there are editors willing and able to "cut the crap". Edwardx (talk) 19:47, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why is the title Stonehage Fleming?Zigzig20s (talk) 23:28, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Zigzig20s, apparently as the result of a merger. Edwardx appears to accept this, and if you have any further queries it's best to direct them to him Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:34, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
User:Edwardx: What was this merged with? The article has a different title from the article content; that makes no sense.Zigzig20s (talk) 06:43, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Thangamayil Jewellery Limited page : 08 Jan 2016 posting

Dear Sir, we have noticed the deletion of the page "Thangamayil Jewellery Limited" organization page. We have created this page and also planned to update more articles related to gold and silver. We are public limited company and therefore we thought it will be good to have a wikipedia page as information to user of wikipedia. Though this is my first article, I checked the pages of my competitor like "Kalyan Jewellers" and "Malabar gold and diamonds" page and created our page in the same format. Please let me know where i am missing and how to create a content that should not get deleted. please also mail to ysk@thangamayil.com for immediate notification

Indefinitely blocked for spam of own company and user name violation, link to check others Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:33, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

kayak fishing club

Jim - You very quickly deleted a page being created to introduce our not-for-profit kayak fishing club. We are a Pennsylvania based non-profit club with 7 chapters and over 200 members. We are not advertising or soliciting anything - we are writing our history, mission and values. We support non profit human service charities including Heroes on the Water and Unity, A Journey of Hope among others. Please explain what we're doing wrong.

Thanks.

Revoke Talk Page Access

User talk:Ambitionab, the user you recently blocked is abusing his talk page access by putting helpme templates on his talk page. This wastes helpers time. Cheers, Dat GuyTalkContribs 15:36, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dat Guy, he's made one request for advice, which has been answered. That doesn't look like abuse or justify a block. I'm watching the page, so I'll block if there is a future problem Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:34, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture

Hi, why did you delete the page I set up for Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture? Did you not read that this is a FREE/ADVERTISING FREE/OPEN_ACCESS ACADEMIC JOURNAL? What constitute promotion or advertising in this instance? Before contributing this article I checked that other academic journals were represented on wikipedia and indeed, the ones that operate on a subscription base are listed--why isn't that promotion when they charge their readers and Antennae does not! Check out the wiki pages for October journal for instance--that costs money to read--why is that one left online and Antennae is taken down? Thanks (122Manor (talk) 20:25, 8 January 2016 (UTC))[reply]

Deleted Article

Hi Jim, First off, I'd like to say - I appreciate your efforts on making Wikipedia a better place. I'm sorry for my inexperience and ignorance towards Wikipedia, thus causing the hasty deletion of my article. Could you please provide some pointers on how to keep the article up, in the future, if I decide to re-create it? As I've said before, there is a large social following for this alias and I would like to clear things up by making this article, along with providing valuable information. I felt as if I remained neutral and tried to avoid any sort of general promotion, per-se, however, I must have failed. Many of the sources that I cited were from reliable sources, as well. I'm sure I'm missing something. I was unclear in my deletion argument -- I meant to say that the article was not written by Steve, himself, in its entirety, and other users (not on the website) helped contribute to this rough draft, before posting under his/*this* account. This is his account, not an "impersonator." Once again, I'd appreciate any advice and I thank you for your contributions towards Wikipedia. Any tips to keep the article up would be appreciated.

Hi Jimfbleak. Can you please look into the article Christopher Chambers. It was a redirect before but was blanked by another user. His concern was that the article was pointing to the wrong article. I have reverted him twice and so don't want to get into 3rr. Lakun.patra(talk) 14:23, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lakun.patra, he seems to have stopped blanking for now, but I'm watching the page in case. I've prodded since the only ref is written by him, don't know why the article doesn't mention he's a full prof. Thanks Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:03, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Article

Hi Jimfbleak. How is the article that you have deleted different from Blue_Ocean_Strategy or Stay_Hungry_Stay_Foolish or other Management books? There are many such pages. This is an excellent book and I would like to create a page for users. What is wrong in that? I can cite at least 10 other examples of books (even those that I have edited) that have not been deleted. What exactly is the benchmark. Adiagr (talk) 19:52, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on user talk page Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Jim,

I read your response. First of all, I would like to say that I am in no way connected with this book except as a reader. I have never met Sandeep Singh or other publisher(s). The book had a unique idea. I liked it and therefore thought that a nice wiki article can only help other users. I am ready to provide any disclaimer in this regard.

I would like to say that I do agree with some of your points. Suitable references can be provided, tone can be made neutral. My limited point is that blanket deletion is too harsh a step. My understanding is that Wiki thrives on individual contributions and articles are gradually improved.

Your comments can appear above the page or the article can be marked as one that needs improvement. Comments on tone etc can also be mentioned but blanket deletion does not give any chance to review/modify the article. Finally, just note that this book is at least 8 years old and so no one will start a promotional activity now. In any case the book is free to be downloaded. I request that deletion may be revoked. Corrections / suggestions may be flagged and I will try to improve the article and post it for your / other admin's review. Adiagr (talk) 08:14, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adiagr, thank you for clarifying that you have no COI. I think you will see from my comments an those of other editors that the text cannot be fixed by a few tweaks, it's all unacceptable. We need facts with verifiable sources as defined in the link I gave you, not a personal review, whether it's promotional in tone or not. Your article needs rewriting from scratch, assuming that you can show that the book actually meets the notability criteria for books. The fact that it's now free to download doesn't inspire confidence in its significance. Other editors made it clear to you that this article would be deleted again even if sandboxed or recreated as a draft.
If you can show that the book meets the notability criteria with proper references, I'll post the code for the infobox to save you having to do that from scratch if you wish, but there is no point in restoring the text just to be deleted again, sorry Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I will provide notability references and also references for some other points covered in article. The tone would also be improved. Please do the needful. Once I do the editing, I will post a message for you to review. Adiagr (talk) 11:24, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adiagr, I and others have explained in detail why this article should and will not be restored. It had no verifiable facts, and is just your personal opinions. Probably not notable anyway. You can try Wikipedia:Deletion review to get an independent review if you don't accept what you have been told so far. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:36, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Revision / Deletion of content for Stan Owens

Hello Jimfbleak,

I've seen you've been doing a few revisions/deletions of the Stan Owens page. I understand I mightn't be providing the correct references and hence the deletion but if you could help me with this I'm more than happy to make the correct contributions. I am his grandson. The photo I put up the other day is of him. I see that's gone now. I'm not sure how one can reference a photo? The speech I put up (since deleted) has been deleted too. I'm not sure how to reference that other than the fact in the speech the person making the introduction said "this is Stan Owens". Macquarie don't have many pictures on their website because they don't have the originals themselves... I do.

Seeking your help/guidance.

Richard richard@withwine.com RJO (talk) 02:26, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RJO, the image seems to be unintended collateral damage, it appears to be correctly licensed. I've reverted myself, and added "citation needed" tags to the claims that lacked sources rather than removing them. The interview is more problematic, since the link is to an advert-carrying page. I suggest that you link to the original Soundcloud file and, if you wish to, briefly summarise its contents on the article page. I hope this helps Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:13, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ayurveda Eyecare India

Hi this is regarding deletion of my page 'Ayurveda Eyecare India' which was in draft and was being improved with more authentic reference links which is suddenly deleted to day to my surprise without stating proper reason other than saying ambiguous advertising...other editors were asking me to add more authentic links for which I had replied last evening and was expecting more positive response... Need verification on my deleted page

Hi Jimfblek,

I understand what you're doing is to make Wikipedia a better place by choosing all the best articles and delete ones that violate our policy. My page Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort has recently deleted by you. I have tried several times to edit it to avoid G11 policy but still be deleted by numerous admin.

So can you please spot the promotional or advertising words/phrases in my deleted page ?

Deletion of Rapid7 page

Hello,

I’m contacting you on behalf of Rapid7 LLC in regards to our page being deleted. We are now a publicly offered company and believe that we do indeed need a Wikipedia page in order for people to have access to information about us. I was wondering if there will any barriers in creating a new page and if so, what would they be and how do we go about handling them in order to get our page up? Here is the link to our deleted page: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Rapid7&action=edit&redlink=1.

Request for Opinion, and...

Greetings. First, I initially looked you up again to apologize for being a curmudgeon about spelling in the matter of the Pheasants. Your graciousness was a strong contrast. And thank you for clarifying the origin of pheasants. Looking at your User page, I noticed that you're an Admin, and I am need of an opinion from an Admin. I recently reverted 66 deliberate misspellings @ Dara Shikoh, in addition to 2 unsubstantiated 'I know better' type edits, all by the same editor. I've known who Shikoh was for 40 years, and I've never seen the 'new' spelling used, nor was it used in any of several references I checked. Easy reversion was impossible, so I had to slog through and change them one at a time.

This editor, [[1]] has less than 50 edits to the account, and only the Shikoh article has been edited in 2015. Given the effort required to perpetrate the damage, I felt no obligation to assume good faith, so I sent a Level 3 Disruptive Editing Warning--for Vandalism, with a harshly worded additional message. Could you please visit Dara Shikoh and my Talk page and give an opinion on the probity of my actions. Thanks for any help. Regards Tapered (talk) 02:26, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Completely False Article Frederick Achom

Hello,

I would like to draw your attention to this wikipedia article Frederick Achom, at first look it looks like a good article, but it hides most of the real information. If you see article's history you will see that it has been under several editing wars. Almost all claims made in the article are supported in the article are made using own links or PR releases. Also the links which seem genuine like London's 1000 most influential people 2010: Night OwlsLondon's 1000 most influential people 2011: Night Owls have many things wrong in them- they claim to be 1000 but not more than 6 are present; they have no author. They are off the website but somehow have crept into the website. There are many such cases in this wiki article.

Frederick Achom is using his wiki article to show potential investors how great he is by supplying all false information and duping them of money. He has been previously convicted and jailed which was earlier in the article but now has somehow disappeared. [2] [3]

I hope you will understand the gravity of the situation and help in rectifying by either getting the page deleted or corrected.

Thank You. NihartouJason (talk) 04:23, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
