Lovely Professional University is a state university and has been established by enactment of the Government of Punjab namely, the Lovely Professional University Act. The University is also duly recognized by the UGC under section- 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. LPU offers more than 200 programs under 40+ disciplines Among these, some of the most popular disciplines are Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Computer Applications, Hotel Management, Nanotechnology, Home Science, Physiotherapy, Biotechnology, Architecture, Microbiology, Interior Design, Fine Arts, Multimedia, Food Technology, Journalism and Film Production, Library Sciences, Agriculture, Performing Arts, Biosciences, Management, Fashion Design & Urban Planning. University offers program at Doctorate, Post Graduate, Undergraduate, and even Vocational Diplomas. The university has more than 25,000 students which comes form 35+ countries and all 29 states of India. Campus
LPU is largest university of India in terms of students on a single campus and its infrastructure is spread across 600+ acres.This University has a drug free, alcohol free, smoke free, and ragging free campus, located in Phagwara Punjab; The Campus is situated on the National Highway-1, at the entry of Jalandhar City.
The inside of the campus resembles a city, with gardens, lawns, residential complexes and wide roads. The campus has its own water supply and backup electricity supply along with shopping complexes to cater to the daily needs of residents.There is a Hospital within campus which provides health care assistance to students, staff, their dependents and the community within the University Campus, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Separate residential premises for boys and girls is provided.

Hostel
LPU have world’s largest residential facilities with capacity for more than 20,000 students. The university provides magnificent and comprehensive range of facilities within the university campus, separately for boys and girls. University understand that most of their students are moving away from home for the first time, so they strive to make the transition as smooth as possible by providing comfortable, safe and homely set-up within the campus. The university has a wide range of accommodation options. There are rooms ranging from Standard Rooms to Apartments and students can opt for as per their convenience and choice. Each hostel has its own cafeteria, mess services, ATM faculty, and convenience store by WH Smith. Campus entry is controlled by turnstile and there are CCTV surveillance cameras all round to ensure safety and security.

Auditorium
University has one of the largest auditoriums in the country with a sitting capacity of 2500. It is central resources of the university and in addition to this there are many auditorium and lecture theaters. The University Auditorium, Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium, is centrally air-conditioned with a fully sound proof set up and equipped with latest technology for all types of audio/video presentations. A number of small digital auditoriums are also available for seminars, meetings, workshops etc.
Open Theater
In addition to a hi- tech auditorium and small digital auditoriums, the University has numerous open air theatres like Sh. Baldev Raj Square, Sunken Stage, Shed Street etc. where a vast variety of student activities are arranged. Various activities like "NukkadNataks", exhibitions, quiz competitions, plays and fashion shows are regularly organized in the open air theaters.
Library
University houses a Central Library which is a none story library with a total cover are of close to 200,000 sq ft in the university and also stated to be among the larger libraries of the country. Central Library posses a cyber cafe having 250 terminals for providing free access to internet to the students in the library itself. The internet facility is offered with a 1000 Mbps dedicated leased line. There are separate libraries in each School to provide its students and staff a chance to explore a world of knowledge in a conducive environment. By making accessible a rich collection of print and non-print, primary and secondary material in various disciplines, the Libraries support the academic as well as research needs for thousands of students and hundreds of teachers of the University.
Cafeteria
The University Campus offers an excellent choice of places to eat. The University houses a Campus Café, Food Court and a number of other eating joints like cafes, canteens, kiosks, juice bars, snack bars, coffee bars, etc. which offer delicious food, superior services with innovative practices. The eating joints offer excellent multi-cuisine menus ranging from Indian to Continental and Chinese in a comfortable and vibrant ambience. One can find enormous range of recipes from pizza to dosa or even the spicy golgappas and bhelpuri as well as varied range of sandwiches, snacks, fresh fruits, cakes etc. Wide variety of fresh juices, cold coffee, milk shakes, and other beverages are also available. Apart from the Campus maintained Cafeteria there are numerous outlets within the campus to match the taste buds of students like Cafe Chokolade, Dominoes, Cafe Coffee day,Pizza Hut.
Academics
University, offers wide variety of programs which include bachelor's degree, the Dual Degree Bachelor-cum-Master Integrated program. It also offers postgraduate level programs like Master of Technology, Master of Science, Master of Science (Research), Master of Business Administration, Master of Design (Industrial Design), etc. Finally it also offers a PhD program for research in basics sciences such as biological sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences as well as interdisciplinary research, biomedical sciences and bioengineering etc. The admission criteria for all these programs are very competitive and depend on the particular program. The academic year is organized around the semester. Apart from that, the courses may involve short projects, term-papers, self-study assignments, and regular surprise quizzes this helps students to keep on their toes.
Admissions
Admissions are done purely on the bases of merit. Students are expected to qualify LPU NEST for securing their admission and avail the benefits of LPU Scholarship Programs.
About NEST
Lovely Professional University conducts Phase-I of National Eligibility and Scholarship Test (LPUNEST) for B.Tech aspirants. Students studying in 12th class can apply for LPUNEST.
LPUNEST was started in 2009 and became one of the largest entrance tests in India just in 5 years with approximately 3 lakh students registered for the same in 2014.
Phase-I of LPUNEST is expected to be conducted from 15th November to 15th January every year.
Exam Pattern
The test duration is of 120 minutes and consists of 90 multiple choice questions (MCQ) of the objective type. (Test medium-English)

Student Organizations
University cares for the other skills, interests, and initiatives of students that may be beyond the purview of regular academic activities. It supports such enterprising students by providing them avenues to initiate, learn and execute project by themselves. Students with common interests are encouraged and allowed to form their organizations and work in areas of their choice. Presently there are over 40 student organizations operating in social, recreational, hobbies, academics, sports, security, publications, and technical fields.
Student Clubs
Theater Club
This club, the students are taught about all spheres of theater including concept creation, scene creation, direction, promotion, acting, psychology as well as the use of various other arts; which contributes to the development of overall personality of the students.
Dance Club
Dance is a physical and visual art form, which has an immediate and massive impact on the spectator and is more of a way of communicating, what is unspeakable, what cannot be said with words.The club offers an extensive range of classes and activities which apart from polishing the dancing ability of the students, help to groom their personality.
Music Club
The Music Club help the students to learn the basic surs and taals of Indian Gharanas.Apart from giving vocal and instrumental training, various workshops on music, seminars by experts of music field, performance of renowned vocalists, etc are also organised by which the students are able to learn the basics of real musical talent required in the music industry.
Fine Arts Club
Fine Arts is a visual art considered to have been created primarily for aesthetic purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness. The Club works to train and groom the students in all spheres of fine arts. In the Club, the students are taught various forms of painting; like water painting, oil painting, etc; drawing, collage making, poster making, clay modeling, rangoli, installation, etc.
Literary Club
The club trains its students in various areas like creative writing, extempore speeches, debates, symposia, quizzing, poetry recitations, declamations, essay writing, poetic recitation, slogan writing, etc by conducting discussions about various literature related activities, workshops / seminars on literature writing, etc.
Tradition
With a view to develop the all round personality of the students, the University emphasizes as much on sports as on academics. The University encourages students to attain sporting excellence and provides all the necessary facilities and equipment to the students for maintaining physical fitness and good health.
The University offers an extensive range of sports and fitness classes throughout the academic session. Qualified staff and trainers deliver programs for all ages, tastes and abilities, from Cricket to Yoga to Weight Training and Aerobics. There are separate coaches for all the games who groom the students and train them rigorously to compete at national level. All the games have equipment of International standards which is accessible to all the students.
The Sports Club conducts activities at the following levels:
- Inter-school Competitions: These competitions are held in the University between various schools. The students performing well in these competitions are selected and teams to represent the University at state and national levels are formed. These students are trained in their respective games and then these students are sent for different national and state level competitions.
- Inter-residential Competitions: Inter-residential competitions are held between the different residential facility for boys and girls to engage the students availing residential facility and provide them the opportunities of recreation. Such competitions give them chances to play and have a good time.
- Inter-University Competitions: These competitions are held between various Universities. The University sports are governed by Association of Indian Universities, the apex body in sports. The Inter-school teams are trained and given coaching in the coaching camps and then sent to various AIU competitions.
The students are provided with equipments, venues and coaches to provide quality sports facilities to students. At present the club has coaches for various games like Handball, Volleyball, Football, Baseball, Softball, Kho-kho, Aerobics, and Judo. The club also organizes several coaching camps, in-campus and off-campus to develop quality sportspersons which include in-campus coaching camp for AIU, winter off-campus camps and summer off-campus camps.
University traditions are important for the cultural growth of Students. University celebrates below mentioned events annually.
- One World: It is important to learn young that every person, from anywhere around the world, is a human and nothing more or nothing less. Everyone share the same emotion and living habits. Imbibing such thoughts in a child makes a good human being. A child should know how to embrace the cultural diversity, learn from it and grow. No place for hatred should crop up, from anywhere. To propagate the similar school of thought, a two - day fest, "ONE WORLD" is conducted every year in campus to celebrate the diversity and imbibe a global perspective in students here and all around the world. Students from 28 states of Indian and almost 26 countries around the world participated in this fest. Among the participating countries are Afghanistan, Nigeria, Uganda and Maldives,etc. Each country showcased the cultural diversity that they hold and promoted the message from the golden era - Unity in Diversity. Events like these are a necessity in today's world.
- One India: Mega annual national cultural fest “One India” converted campus into Mini India, as many thousand students from 28 states gathered together to celebrate strength of India-unity in diversity. This, event is celebrated for two days on vivid Indian themes to celebrate vast diversity at the campus. The event included deep glimpses in to rich heritage of Indian folk arts through its four distinguished parts-Procession, Exhibition, Music Concert, and Dance Show. Slogan of the year was “Hamare Gorav, Garima Kee Pehchan…Hamari Dharohar Hamari Shaan”. Palanquins, elephants, horses, drumbeats, colorful dresses-banners, peculiar props added glitter and luster to the celebration. Shrieks, slogans, singing, shouts of sanctity from students produced overwhelming patriotic fervor all around. This annual Endeavor of the university is an effort to bind the students from different regions of India in a single knot of unity amid cultural diversity. For last four years this event is providing great power of togetherness to all the students and members of staff.
- Youthvibe: Providing the biggest competitive platform to the talented international and national students of different universities and colleges; The event is poised to be a unified inter-national level platform with 100 + competitions in cultural, management, technical, literary, social, sports and allied activities. Mammoth congregation of student fraternity will not only have knowledge and fun based lifetime experience, but also get chance to win cash prizes worth Rs 20 Lac. International food & fun carnival, rock- shows, celebrity- visits, Hair-raising KTM-Bike stunt, and tech exhibitions will add more luster to the celebration. Encouraging students to participate in competitions with sportsman spirit, LPU believes "Many of the students have special talents other than academics in them to shine on the national and international levels. So, we have devised out a unified inter-national level platform ‘Youth Vibe’ to encourage such extraordinary students to excel and shine. Youth vibe provides students plenty of opportunities to showcase their innovativeness in almost all areas be it technical, management, cultural or some other. This year we have added social field also to encourage students to bear social responsibilities.”
- Freshmen Induction: University has taken the initiative of “transforming India” by truly “transforming education” as necessitated by the world in the present scenario. It aspires at enlightening the youth to rediscover the positivism that dwells within them and pursuit them to take a step forward to become a Verto- the true transformers. To acclimatize you with the drastic changes happening before the beginning of your professional career with us, Freshmen Induction is planned. It is a unique attempt made by the university to introduce the students with its management and various opportunities provided that contribute to the overall development of the students and providing them a platform to examine their potential and excel. It acquaints you with the basic information you need to know as a student. Various effective and interactive ice-breaker activities and events are scheduled in sociable manner to let you avail the opportunities to gain a competitive edge and helping you surmount the day to day obstacles of a professional life.
- Explorica: Explorica, a two-day mega event, witnessed mammoth visit of 30000 students from 250+ schools of Punjab. Explorica was planned in a manner to include both competitive and non-competitive events including Armed Forces Showcase, Gyan Manthan, Academic Exposition, School Students’ Projects, Literary/Fine & Performing Arts competitions. By adding a plethora of competitions, it was ensured that students with varied interests could participate and exhibit their skills and capabilities at such a large platform. Another highlight of this one of its kind event is distribution of cash prizes of worth 50,000 and 10,000 INR to Gyan Manthan’s State Topper and District toppers respectively. In addition, cash prizes are distributed to winners of other competitive events as well. One of the main objectives of the event is to guide students and enable them to make an informed career choice. Throughout the event, students freely interacted with different departments at LPU and asked questions to their heart’s content. Students who participated in Explorica get an opportunity to enjoy international fest ‘One World’ at the same time.
- Spectra: Spectra is a Three-day annual talent finding competitive cultural festival. In 2005 during the opening ceremony there was a classical performance by Odissi dance expert Kavita Dwibedi. The annual event is scheduled to hold massive competitions in music, dance, theatre, literary & fine arts. The competitions are to identify the best cultural talent among the students of different departments, even other than performing & fine arts departments including those of engineering, sciences, pharmacy, architecture. Near 3000 participating students organized a talent caravan throughout the campus as a cultural procession.
Community service
University Organizes wide variety of community services to donate back to the society. This service tends to develop a sense of harmony among the students and let them feel proud. Few of the Community Campaigns includes:
- Blood Donation Camp: Following human interests and Corporate Social Responsibility; Lovely Professional University organized Blood Donation camp at its university campus. The camp was organized in association with Hindustan Welfare Blood Donor Club Phagwara. Students & Staff-members showed great interest in this humane Endeavour and donated 965 Blood Units voluntarily to save 2895 lives. Different teams of doctors and paramedical staff members from blood transfusion offices of 3 Civil Hospitals (Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur) & PIMS (Jalandhar) provided all the support for the blood donation activities.
- Tree plantation Drive: Volunteers of Lovely Professional University planted 300 saplings under the plantation drive “Prakriti” in one of the adopted village “Raipur Parohla”.On this occasion chief guest of event village sarpanch welcome the NSS volunteers. The volunteers encouraged the villagers to plant saplings and also gave the message of importance of clean and green earth during the event. 35 volunteers participated in event. Main objective of this event was to enable the students to understand the community in which they work and To create awareness among the people, that how important is this to maintain ecological balance on the earth and also to make them understand why we are planting saplings and why they should do the same on vacant unused land areas. On this occasion the volunteers come to a sense of social and civic responsibility and gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
- Asia's biggest SOLAR CAR Championship: Asia’s largest three day Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC) & Auto-fest 2014 was held at Campus. The event was aptly launched on the Earth Day for next generation vehicles to forward great message of being environment friendly by not disturbing the Nature.
- Scholarship and Financial Aid: University strongly believes that monetary constraints should not be an obstacle for a student to have access to quality education. So, the university extends Scholarship and Financial Aid Scheme to students on various parameters. More than 30000 students have been awarded with scholarships worth Rs.300+crores in last 5 years.

In UK, LPU has tie ups with University of Sunderland, University of Wolverhampton, University of East London, University of Roehampton, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, University of Northampton, University of West London, Coventry University, Edinburgh Napier University. LPU has an International Students Division, which serves as a single point of contact for the international students for issues relating to visa, travel guidance, academic counselling or availing of student services on the campus.[citation needed]
The University offers four major types of international programs[citation needed]: 1) International Twinning Arrangement Programs, wherein a student completes a part of studies at LPU and the remaining part with LPU's partner Foreign University under articulation arrangements. 2) English Language Programs for international students, from Non-English speaking Countries or those where English is not the first language. 3) Study India Programs for students studying abroad. 4) Study Abroad Programs where the LPU students study a part of the programme in a university (LPU's partner university) in a different country and earn the academic credits from that university which are clubbed/added to the credits from LPU.
