Chitguppa is a taluk in Bidar district in the state of Karnataka, India. Announced as taluk in 2013 Budget by CM Jagdeesh Shettar on 8 February 2013 after long fight by Natives.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Chitguppa had a population of 24,232. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Chitguppa has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 67% and female literacy of 53%. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The Cynosure of chitguppa is the Gavi called Santa Madivaleshwara Gavi, which is carved in single hill. That is the place where the Santa Madilwaleshwara sat for Tapas for many Years.

There is a more than 500 years old Banyan tree near Basawanna temple at the heart of the City. The Dasara Festival is celebrated in an awesome way, the day when All the people in chitguppa go to Bhavani temple together and greet each other with "Banni" (Bangara).

And Mahadeva temple is another oldest temple in the city.

All religious festivals are celebrated with rich and unique culture like Moharram,Easter and Deepavali. And few festivals are celebrated by all religions are Karhuni, Sankranthi ( Kites flying) . Muslim (sunni) comprises almost 40% of local popuplation. one can easily find the communal harmony between all faiths and are living together peacefully. Most of Muslims practice Sufism Islam as one can easily found so many shrines in the city, knowingly shrines (dargas) are there like KAREEM ULLAH SHA, SALARE MAQDOOM, And NANA HAZRATH. The main festivals celebrated by Muslims areEID UL FITR, EID UL ADHA, EID-E-MELAAD UN NABI,URS-E-SHAREEF of all the darga's that to the in a great manner, most of the young generation moving towards education field with a great reward, and towards politics .

Finally to say Chitguppa is one of the best residential place to stay. Cool and Calm.
