That's Manchester is a local television station broadcasting to Greater Manchester.

Background

That's Manchester is not the first local television service broadcasting to Manchester. During the 2000s Channel M had broadcast to the area until it closed in 2012. In 2013, as part of a national roll-out of local television in the United Kingdom, Ofcom awarded the licence to Your TV, but the channel failed to launch within the two year timeframe as stipulated by Ofcom.[2] That's TV subsequently took over the licence and in May 2015 Ofcom gave That's Manchester a new 10 and a half year licence to provide local TV in Manchester.[3] That's TV Manchester launched at 9pm on 31 May 2015.[1][4]

Broadcasting and reception

That's Manchester is broadcast from the Winter Hill transmitting station and covers the Greater Manchester area of the north west of England. However the channel is one of the few local channels which is not available on Virgin Media.

Programming

That’s Manchester's website describes the channel as the new TV channel for Greater Manchester providing news and entertainment programming 24 hours per day.[5] The main focus of the station's output is news with live and recorded news bulletins occupying much of the station's broadcast hours. The channel also broadcasts current affairs, interviews and debates as well as a daily advice show. Best-of shows are broadcast at the weekend as well as programmes covering the area's sport and weekly programmes for the local Asian and LGBT communities.
