Early Life

Alma Lucy Reville, also known as "Lady Hitchcock", was Born in Nottingham, England on August 14th 1899, to Matthew Edward and Lucy Reville. Her family moved to London when she was young where her father got a job at the UK's largest motion picture studio; Twickenham Film Studios. Reville often visited her father and eventually got a job there as a tea girl but due to her hard work she was quickly promoted to a cutter which involved assisting directors in editing the motion pictures. Reville also worked as a script girl and director's assistant which enabled her access to a part of filmmaking that very few women had access to at that time.

The studio closed in 1919, but Alma Reville was given a job by Famous Players-Lasky, an American motion picture company. It was here where Reville met her husband and co-worker, Alfred Hitchcock as he was hired by the same company as a graphic designer but made his way to the position of an art editor while Reville worked her way up to editor. Although, the two worked together for years, they never spoke.
