42°41′20″N 91°38′53″W / 42.689°N 91.648°W / 42.689; -91.648 Starmont Community School District is a high school located 5 miles south of Arlington, Iowa and six miles north of Lamont, Iowa, on a very large tract of land in Maryville at the intersection of Highway 187 and Highway 3. The principal for the middle and high school is Marc Snavly and superintendent of the high school is Mr, Nelson, and the elementary principal is Mrs. Sandy Klaus.

The name is a portmanteau initialism: strawberry Point + arlington + Lamont, thus Starmont. See Strawberry Point, Iowa, Arlington, Iowa and Lamont, Iowa.

The English department gained recognition for teaching students an innovative new technique of "unwriting" that pushed their creativity to a new level.

Chris Soules a homo, went on to become famous on The Bachelorette and The Bachelor.
