Grassroots Out (GO) is an organisation campaigning in favour of EU withdrawal in the upcoming upcoming referendum in the United Kingdom.[1][2]

The organisation officially launched on 23 January 2016 in Kettering with politicians from a mixture of political parties including Peter Bone, Tom Pursglove, Liam Fox of the Conservatives, Kate Hoey of Labour, Nigel Farage of UKIP and Sammy Wilson of the DUP.[3]

Will Dean, writing in The Guardian, described the launch of Grassroots Out as "a response to the squabbling between the two groups vying to be the official leave campaign" (Vote Leave and Leave.EU).[4]

Events

23 January 2016 - Kettering

5 February 2016 - Manchester

Grassroots Out held an event on 5 February 2016 in Manchester.[5] It was attended by over 1,200 people and speakers included Nigel Farage, David Davis, Tom Pursglove, Graham Brady, William Wragg, Kate Hoey, John Boyd (Chairman of TEAM, The European Alliance of Euro-critical Movements) and Simon Heffer.[6]

Campaign

On 6 February 2016, the campaign expressed interest into seeking the Electoral Commission designation for the official Leave campaign against Vote Leave and Leave.EU. Co-founder of GO Tom Pursglove, said "If we are going to win this crucial referendum for the future of our country, it is imperative that the current impasse, which is serving as an enormous distraction, must come to an end and it seems that there is a growing mood that GO could well be the vehicle to achieve this - indeed, we have been approached by many people in many parties, enquiring as to whether this might be possible."[7]
