Duncan L. Niederauer is an American businessman.[1][2][3] He served as the Chief Executive Officer of the New York Stock Exchange until September 2014.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Early life

Niederauer graduated from Bay Shore High School in June of 1977. He earned an MBA from Emory University and a BA from Colgate University. [1][3][4][5][6]

Career

Niederauer has joined an upstart brokerage firm called Battery East as a managing director. Until September 2014, he was Chief Executive Officer, NYSE and President, ICE. During his tenure as CEO, NYSE Euronext, Mr. Niederauer oversaw the transformation of the company into an innovative, globally integrated organization with a high-tech, high-touch focus. Prior to that position, Mr. Niederauer was President and co-Chief Operating Officer of NYSE Euronext with responsibility for U.S. cash equities.

Before joining NYSE Euronext in April 2007, Niederauer was Managing Director and co-Head of the Equities Division Execution Services franchise at Goldman, Sachs & Co. His career at Goldman Sachs spanned 22 years.

Philanthropy

Niederauer and his wife led the Newmark School’s “Destination of Promise” campaign, which built a state of the art school for children with autism and related disabilities in Scotch Plains, NJ. They have three children and reside in New Jersey. [7]
