Lynne Franks
Lynne Franks (born 1947/8) is one of the best-known public relations consultants in the world, a United Kingdom-based commentator on women's issues, sustainability, and consumer lifestyles. Lynne Franks is the "Be all you want to be" business-woman columnist in the financial pages of London's Sunday Express. She is reputedly also the inspiration for Edina in "Absolutely Fabulous" having founded her first public relations company at her own kitchen table in 1970 when she was twenty-one [1].
In 1992 she sold her PR firm to focus on using her communication skills to encourage partnership between business and society, leaving London to travel the world with her event '‘What Women Want’' and working with multinational corporations, bureaucrats and grassroots organisations to draw attention to the changing position of women in society. Prior to attending the Beijing Women's Conference; she chaired the UK's first women's radio station and has become a spokesperson on women's issues and socially responsible business practices.
Lynne Franks is currently developing SEED: the Sustainable Enterprise Empowerment Dynamics, a network aimed at training and empowering women in sustainable enterprise.
Franks, who has two children, divides her time between California, New York and London.
