Although the first F3 tornado in 1972 occurred on January 13 in Waynesboro, Georgia there were no F5 tornadoes and only four rated F4.

The F4 tornadoes were

On March 28, two F2 tornadoes hit Tallahassee, Florida, on June 19, two unconfirmed tornadoes killed 7 people in North DeLand, Florida and on September 24, an F3 tornado hit Racine, Wisconsin.
