Michael James Tomlinson-Mynors[1] (born 1 October 1977) is a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. He is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Mid Dorset and North Poole after winning the seat in the 2015 General Election.[2] Previously, he was a barrister,[3] and in 2014 he fought to secure £5 million extra funding for a local special school.[4]
Political Career
In 2016, Tomlinson voted for the proposal to cut Employment Support Allowance to groups of disabled jobseekers by £30 a week. Chancellor George Osbourne stated that: "the cut would provide an incentive for [disabled] claimants to return to work." The House of Lords and leading disability charities have disputed this claim. The Bill will now be made into law.
Charity work
Tomlinson is part of the Conservative Party's Project Umubano, and has worked in Rwanda and Sierra Leone, where he helped advise local judges.[3]
