Template:Chinese name Kao Ching-yuen (Chinese: 高清愿; pinyin: Gāo Qīngyuàn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Ko Chheng-gōan; May 24, 1929 – March 2016) was a Taiwanese businessman. Kao was born to a poor family in Gakkō Village, Hokumon District, Tainan Prefecture, Japanese-era Taiwan (modern-day Xuejia, Tainan). He is the founder and was, until 2013,[1] the chairman of Uni-President, the largest food Taiwanese corporation, based in Tainan, which distributed products across Taiwan, mainland China and Southeast Asia. Kao began to serve as a workman in his teenage years. He got into Taiwan Spinning (台南紡織), a textile processing company in 1954, and became a manager later. Kao left Taiwan Spinning in 1966.
He established the Uni-President Corporation in 1967.[2]
In 2003 he was awarded a Management Medal by the Chinese Management Association.[3] Kao's death was confirmed by Uni-President on April 1, 2016, and a funeral was held the same the day.[4][5]
