Could the ait site be added in the reference section of the wiki and can the logo of the institute be added so that it can be put up in the infobox. thank you.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Vijay.0288 (talkcontribs) 02:46, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can upload the logo yourself; just click "Upload file" in the menu on the left. Note, however, that such an image will be copyright. Unless the license for using the logo is correct, your uploaded image will be deleted. It would therefore probably be better to list your request at Wikipedia:Files for upload and let somebody else do it. Not sure what you mean by "added in the reference section of the wiki". The Institute's homepage is already listed in the External links section of the article. That is the only reference section I can imagine you might be referring to. Later. I have uploaded the logo for you and added it to the {{Infobox}}. HairyWombat 18:00, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

Talk:Army Institute of Technology, Pune/CommentsTalk:Army Institute of Technology, Pune — This page is confusing newbies. Contents clearly intended for page "Talk:Army Institute of Technology, Pune". The target page currently contains only the template {{WP India}} (which I have copied to this page in preparation for its move). HairyWombat 01:20, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Later. Perhaps a little more information would help. This page is a Talk page with no corresponding article page. I previously cut and pasted its content over to "Talk:Army Institute of Technology, Pune", but an administrator declined to then speedy delete this page under {{db-g8}} with the Edit summary "Let's preserve the page history so the comments can be attributed". So now I am requesting that this Talk page be moved (which will preserve the History). HairyWombat 05:26, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even later. Many thanks to administrator DrKiernan for executing this move. HairyWombat 17:55, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox Army Institute of Technology

Where did the template {{Infobox Army Institute of Technology}} come from? I assume it was copied from an existing Infobox template, and not written from scratch. But from which Infobox template was it copied? I ask because I suspect a separate template is not needed and, instead, either {{Infobox university}} or {{Infobox institute}} would be more appropriate. Using one of the standard templates would also solve the problem of the template {{Infobox Army Institute of Technology}} having no Usage documentation. HairyWombat 18:14, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Later. The template {{Infobox Army Institute of Technology}} seems to be a recent fork from {{Infobox Indian Institute of Technology}}, which was itself forked from {{Infobox university}} way back in 2006. The template {{Infobox university}} has been completely rewritten since then, and these forked templates have not benefitted from those improvements. From the point of view of maintenance, a few standard templates are better than a collection of many specific ones.

If the template {{Infobox Army Institute of Technology}} in this article were replaced with {{Infobox university}}, the only parameters that would be lost are |telephone= and |fax=. Wikipedia is not meant to be a directory, so I would suggest that these two parameters are inappropriate anyway. Also, if a reader is reading this Wikipedia article then the AIT, Pune website is only one click away, and the website contains full contact details.

I therefore suggest that the template {{Infobox Army Institute of Technology}} in this article is replaced with {{Infobox university}}. HairyWombat 20:10, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Later. Done. HairyWombat 16:47, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vanity publishing

Students must stop trying to use this article as a noticeboard or vanity page. We don't want lists of non-notable students. I am sure that the holders of minor positions within the school feel very proud but these positions fail both notability and verifiability. The guideline you need to use is this: Apart from the principal and maybe the director (which still need to be referenced for verifiability), we don't want staff or students mentioned by name unless there is good reference material showing that they are notable. College publications would not be enough. Any graduates with their own Wikipedia articles can be listed under Alumni. --DanielRigal (talk) 09:38, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If anybody is wondering why the article is so much shorter now, it is because it was scoring high on the copyright violation detector. I have removed all paragraphs which were mostly copies of other websites apart from the lead, which I have tweaked a bit.

If anybody wants to help build it up again then please go ahead but please take care. New content needs to be well referenced to reliable sources, not promotional and not plagiarised! --DanielRigal (talk) 19:13, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
