Location of Sud-Ubangi District in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Sud-Ubangi District is a district located in the Équateur province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lies in the north of the country on the Ubangi River. Sud-Ubangi (South Ubangi) is one of 25 proposed provinces specified in the country's 2006 constitution, due to take effect no later than February 2009.[1] As of October 2010, this had not taken place.[2]

Administration

The capital of Sud-Ubangi is the town of Gemena.[3] The separately administered city of Zongo was to be capital of the new province.
