Latrell Mitchell (born 18 June 1997) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League. He primarily plays at fullback, wing and centre.
Background
Born in Taree, New South Wales, Mitchell is of Indigenous Australian descent. Mitchell played his junior rugby league for the Taree Red Rovers. Mitchell's older brother Shaq also plays in the Roosters under 20s[2][3] In 2014, Mitchell played for the Roosters SG Ball team, where he was named as the 2014 SG Ball Player of the Year and the player of the match in the SG Ball Grand Final.[4][5][6] In 2013 and 2014, Mitchell played for the New South Wales Under-16s and Under-18s teams respectively.[7] In 2014, Mitchell played for the Australian Schoolboys team, where he was named as the Player of the Tour.[8][9]
Playing career
Early career
Mitchell played in the Roosters NYC team in the 2015 season where he had a exciting year. On 16 June 2015, Mitchell re-signed with the Roosters to the end of the 2019 season.[10] On 8 July 2015, Mitchell played for the New South Wales under 20s team where he played at fullback and scored a try in the 32-16 win at Suncorp Stadium.[11] On 14 September 2015, Mitchell was named on the interchange bench in the 2015 Holden Cup Team of the Year.[12]
2016
Latrell made his first team debut at the 2016 NRL Auckland Nines where he scored 3 tries in 3 games and also played in the 2016 World Club Series win against St Helen's RFC.[13][14]
