WikiProject Bangladesh To-do list:

POV writing

This article isn't written from a neutral perspective, includes flowery words of support, and lacks in many instances English language references. It's also not written for an outsider. Crtew (talk) 23:03, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, also it is much too detailed, and does not need lists of every person who attended every meeting. Am working on editing just to get to a neutral tone and correct English. Need to check the references to see what they actually say, as the tone is way off for an encyclopedia article. Far too many ungrounded political accusations; it reads like a party piece.Parkwells (talk) 22:31, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like copy vio of some articles in Engish; may be a pattern overall. Will be working to avoid that by paraphrasing. The verbatim copying is where the many lists of attendees came from.Parkwells (talk) 14:58, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Too many sources not in English

This is the English-language Wikipedia; too many sources are not in English and are inaccessible. These will be deleted or added to External links, as they are inaccessible to general English readers. Also, too many sources have bare urls, lacking author, title, publisher, etc. Without the article title, it is impossible to check to find the article. Many are noted as missing, unavailable, or archives are closed, making them useless. Parkwells (talk) 23:56, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Another reason to move the sources in Bengali to External links has been the problem with tone in the article - it is not objective enough. If the general readers in English can't check the sources for themselves to see the fuller account, it is not useful to have them as cites.Parkwells (talk) 14:13, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Too many political speeches of others

This is supposed to be a bio of Ali, not an electioneering pamphlet. Not the place for quoting speeches by Khaleda Zia.Parkwells (talk) 23:56, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Avoid COPY VIO

Editors need to take care to paraphrase material from sources, or use it with quotation marks and a full inline cite to the source, if copying verbatim (please see Wikipedia's editing rules). Even quoted materials need to be used with restraint to avoid copyright violations. There were instances here of unattributed verbatim copying. Parkwells (talk) 15:01, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editing for significance

Have tried to edit this to make it more like other politicians, keeping more to the facts of biography and major issues he worked on. It is interesting that the article on Saifur Rahman, which I checked looking for some references to use here, has NO acknowledgement of the "rivalry" with Ali that looms so large here. Perhaps we should also take it out, or reduce it more, especially as few of the cited urls are working for checking references. Will continue to try to find other sources.Parkwells (talk) 23:33, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removed stale POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV

An old neutrality tag that appears to have no active discussion has been removed from this page per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever any one of the following is true:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant

The article has been edited extensively in the two years since it was tagged, at this time there is no obvious overarching NPOV problem, and there is no evidence of ongoing discussion of neutrality, so I've removed the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one!
