Mood Indigo is the annual cultural festival (Culfest) of IIT Bombay held around the last week of December. It started in 1973 with a total budget of Rs. 5,000.

The festival lasts for 4-5 days. One of the biggest cultural festivals in India, MoodI (as it is popularly known) has almost 50,000 students from over 300 colleges assembled in the plush environs of IIT Bombay.

There are a multitude of innovative competitions, in fields as varied as music, dance, dramatics, literary arts, speaking, and fine arts. These competitions form the backbone of MoodI and generate tremendous participation and audience-response.

There are also plenty of other activities for students not interested in competitions. Many informal and fun events, including water sports, take place around the clock, often going on until late at night. There are workshops, plays, films, and dance performances for those interested.

MoodI boasts of excellent professional nights by artists in various fields. Some of the artists who have performed are Lucky Ali, Remo Fernandes, the Colonial Cousins, Hema Malini, Ahana Deol, Hariharan, Trilok Gurtu and his crazy saints, Sivamani, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Zakir Hussain, Taufiq Quereshi, Shaan (singer), Indian Ocean (band), Euphoria Band.
