Deletion of Asbru Web Content Management

I don't know if you are the right person to address this to, but I think the deletion of the article on Asbru Web Content Management was a bit rushed. I have added some more information on the talk page for Asbru Web Content Management http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Asbru_Web_Content_Management.

Please review the deletion.

Best Regards, David Fisher --User:Dfisher

This user works for Asbru Ltd and has no other contributions on Wikipedia. Surely this shouldn't be allowed any more than an autobiography? JRawle (Talk) 12:34, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In my "request for a review" entry on the talk page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Asbru_Web_Content_Management) I am not exactly trying to hide that I work for Asbru so I don't understand what you wish to add with this comment. I have been honest and as far as I know I haven't broken any rules. User:Dfisher 15:36, 1 August 2006 (GMT)
If you go to the (re-deleted) talk page, the text at the bottom says it all:
Wikipedia is not an advertising service. Promotional articles about yourself, your friends, your company or products; or articles written as part of a marketing or promotional campaign, may be deleted in accordance with our deletion policies. For more information, see Wikipedia:Spam. JRawle (Talk) 14:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm...I think you may not have realised that the article is a specific response to concrete reasons given for deleting the Asbru Web Content Management article. I found the reasons for the deletion here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Asbru_Web_Content_Management. It said on that page that subsequent comments should be made on the article's talk page and as I don't consider my comments as part of a marketing or promotional campaign, but as a response to specific points raised that was were I put them. Also on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:SOFTWARE it says that "Creating an article about software you have personally developed is strongly discouraged but not forbidden." So I still can't see that I should have broken any rules. User:Dfisher 16:29, 1 August 2006 (GMT)

Just dropping you a line

I recently incorporated some of Deckiller's userpage layout into my own userpage, and dropped by his talk page to say thanks for the inspiration. Saying as you helped him with the styling, a good deal of that thanks is yours, as well.

Also, the complexity of your coding is mightily impressive. Fantastic job. EVula 05:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there

Thank you for keeping an eye on my talk page and reverting what you perceived to be vandalism. I read the message and while the user certainly seemed to be a bit heated, I don't believe it was vandalism. Thanks again! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 23:14, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for reverting User:Mblitray, I am the person to which he was referring, needless to say, despite all the attacks I've taken on this site, that was absolutely unbelievable, not to mention scary, that someone could hate me that much. MAP and Simon Botes

As the result of this discussion, a consensus was reached that both MAP - Micromobile Account Payments and Simon Botes were to be deleted. However, only the first page has been deleted so far. I was wondering if you missed the second article in the nomination or if there was another reason it's still up. --Wafulz 14:24, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are accusing me of vandalism. If any material was deleted from that page, it would have been an accident. I checked the history of my edit, and compared it to the 'revert' above, and the only differences were that of grammar and context. I do not appreciate being falsely accused and would like an apology. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.82.9.13 (talkcontribs) 20:14, 6 August 2006.

Actually, my warning on your talk page was given on August 3 and refers to content removal here. My username is nowhere to be found in the recent history of Human; it seems that another admin reverted your edit. I would recommend contacting him instead and keeping a more civil tone. Thanks, Sango123 20:59, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
instead of assuming good faith, you accused Vandalism. You don't have to look at the most recent edit of 'human' to see your tone, see the revision below the most recent. I would have no reason to speak to you if you didnt accuse me of vandalism. Who is being self-righteous here? Why won't you admit you are wrong and civilly apologize? What have you got to lose? Why must you maintain your assertion that I vandalized something? I am sure that, in the history, my 'vandalism' would be reflected. Unless an edit is offensive or pornographic, an administrator would not alter the history of a page itself. I am going to assume that you are naieve. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.12 (talkcontribs) 00:59, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked through the last 500 revisions of the article and see no objectionable edits from my account. All the edits I recall making to Human are vandalism reversions, and in case I didn't make myself clear before, I did not revert your edit to that article; someone else did. The vandalism warning you received from me was in response to content removal from your IP address involving a completely different article. I would like to know which of my edits in particular have upset you; please provide some diffs if you'd like. Right now, I don't believe I have anything to apologize for, and I'm saying that in complete honesty. Thanks, Sango123 01:19, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey this list is actually located in Wikisource, and there is a link for it in the article Great Lakes Storm of 1913. When I clicked the link and visited Wikisource, the list still exists, however this tag {{refdata}} was at the top of the page advising me to delete any links to the list. Just wondered what should be done in this situation. Thanks! Stubbleboy 22:36, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shock and awe

We've got a sock puppet operating on the Shock and Awe article, you know him, Sock puppet, Publicola? Ring a bell? Here's your revert: "00:20, 5 August 2006 Sango123 (Talk | contribs) m (Reverted edits by 86.29.113.26 (talk) to last version by Publicola)"

I've never seen your name in connection with the article, you were brought in to revert. Sock puppet, Publicola was out of reverts...then you fell out of the sky with an revert for him.

I'm saying to you don't ever revert and article without first becoming familiar with the content and the dialogue on the talk page.--Scribner 06:59, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The person whom I reverted had been using multiple IP addresses to mass revert Ryulong's contributions, often back to vandalized versions of articles or removing his edits entirely and calling it "reverting vandalism" in edit summaries ([1] [2] [3]). 86.29.113.26 also left incivil and abusive messages on user talk pages ([4] [5]). When I saw that he had begun rapidly mass reverting again on August 5, I reverted all his edits and issued a block, as I had done when he appeared with other IP addresses. There's a thread on WP:AN/I about it if you're interested.
His edit to Shock and awe seems to be the only one of the bunch that didn't involve directly reverting Ryulong. Of course, I didn't realize that, as he used the same edit summary for each of his reverts and I was clicking the rollback button from his contributions page. I offer my sincerest apologies for any harm my revert may have caused. Regards, Sango123 15:30, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

I wasn't vandalizing pages. I was marking articles for deletion. I read the policy of Wikipedia and it said that I can mark any page for deletion and it will be deleted speedy. Please do not ban me; I was only following the rules. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Superman loves cheese (talkcontribs) 20:15, 7 August 2006.

I was referring to your edits to Muslim and Muhammad; you may want to review Wikipedia's NPOV policy. The article you're attempting to mark for deletion (Cartoon Wars Part I) will not be "deleted speedy", as it doesn't fall under any criteria for speedy deletion. Still, if you wish to properly list an article for deletion, please follow the instructions here. Finally, please sign your comments on talk page with four tildes (~~~~); it produces a link to your userpage and a timestamp. Thanks, Sango123 20:24, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can't any user delete anything they dont like here? Why cant I express my religious beliefs here? There is no freedom of religion on wikipedia. 20:28, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Superman loves cheese 20:28, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There are rules here, you know. ;) No one is permitted to delete an article simply because he or she doesn't like it; see Wikipedia:Deletion policy and Wikipedia:Deletion process. Also, please refrain from expressing your religious beliefs in the main namespace; again, our policy maintains that articles should be written from a neutral point of view. However, you can post information about yourself and your beliefs (within reason) on your own userpage, which is located at User:Superman loves cheese. Remember, Wikipedia is first and foremost an encyclopedia, not a soapbox or publisher of original thought. Thanks, Sango123 20:40, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request

I'd like to know if when you have time (and if you still do this sort of thing) you could design my user page. If so, please leave a message on my talk page and I can tell you what I'm looking for, and if not, thats ok too :) Cheers. SynergeticMaggot 18:36, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well first, thank you:) The idea I had was to either make my main userpage into a few templates like yours but militant (if this can be done). Something like army or bootcamp colors. The only other things I'd request is to organize my user boxes into groups (for instance projects in one section and so forth), and also one of those nifty Barnstar drop down lists. I'll have to look for an example if you dont know what I'm talking about. I'd also like you to sign the template, saying something like "This page designed by Sango123". :) SynergeticMaggot 04:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I found the example I was looking for: User:Daniel.Bryant. His award section drops down and is listed across from one another. SynergeticMaggot 21:20, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to interrupt a conversation I'm not actually a part of, but that link shows something I was trying to do but couldn't (I was hoping to use an off-site style sheet so I could use pseudo classes). Thanks for the link, SynergeticMaggot. :) EVula 21:34, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding in the design bar in there. I also added to it. :) SynergeticMaggot 23:48, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Templates

Do you know what order the {{test}} templates go in? Does it go "test1" then "test 2" and then "test 3" or is "test2a" supposed to go in as well? Thanks. --Thorpe | talk 22:57, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sango123,

I've been looking high and low for how to set the default on class="NavContent" to "Show" but with no luck. Since you're one of the best resident experts around here, I'm asking for your help. How do I fix something like the code below to set the default to "Show" in "NavContent"?

Automobile Barnstar?

Dear Sango,

As indisputably one of the very best graphic artists on WP, and a designer of a host of acclaimed barnstars, you might interested in the fact that the WikiProject Automobiles is currently planning on adopting a Project-specifing Barnstar and seeking for an appropriate design. It would be most wonderful if you found it amusing to devote some of your previous time to develop a design you would like to propose for such a Barnstar.

Regardless of whether you find this interesting for you personally, perhaps you might think of some other talented graphic designers who might be interested, and either relay this message to them or suggest me to contact them?

Best regards,

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Dealing with autoblocks

Hey Sango, I have an adminy-related question, and since you are a fine upstanding admin, I figured you could help me.  :) When someone is autoblocked mistakenly, how do we go about unblocking them? I assume we can't just unblock them, since we have to go and find the autoblock, but I don't really understand how... except for the fact that somehow the autoblock tool plays into it. Many thanks for explaining this, I really appreciate it, and I'm sure many users at Category:Requests for unblock who have been autoblocked will appreciate it also. :) -- Natalya 22:39, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks, you've helped to clarify the issue greatly! I much appreciate it. One last question, do I need to worry about giving vandals access back by overriding an autoblock? Thanks again, especially your explanation for the autoblock too, I was trying to figure out what it meant then they were crossed out. -- Natalya 00:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lovely! I'm looking at it in terms of the collateral damage fixing. Thanks for being a well-knowing sysop, I most appreciate your help. :) -- Natalya 00:39, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yo, blocking me!?

I didn't do nuthin'! Look at my history ... Wasted Time R 14:19, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Weird autoblocks galore!

And they all seem to be attributed to you!

This is what happened. Basically on some (but not all) of the pages I've been trying to edit I was getting this message:

Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by Sango123 for the following reason (see our blocking policy):
Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "067970327". The reason given for 067970327's block is: "user...".
Your IP address is 66.230.200.195.

This is weird because

  1. I can still edit most pages

That's the message I got when blocked (the second time) however I don't seem to be blocked anymore, so thanks for unblocking me.--James086 14:29, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OuToFtUnEvIoLiN autoblock

Thanks for the unblock - I appear to have been part of the collateral damage. Odd though, the IP address that was reported was nothing like mine (naturally I forgot to screenshot it :-( ) - mine, a dynamic IP from btconnect.com, is 86.129.77.199 while the block page was reporting 66.something. Did the autoblock mechanism add a bit to the IP range it was blocking, or something? Tonywalton  | Talk 14:25, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

aha. See the comment above. Same problem? Tonywalton  | Talk 14:26, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me too! I don't even have that IP address! Andjam Andjam 14:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I too experienced a similar block, so I rebooted to obtain a different dynamic IP address. DFH 14:31, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And me!

I have just been blocked infinitely, by you apparently, because some unknown username has shared my address. This is nonsense: my computer is my own (and is pretty well protected too). And that username has never made any contributions.

So if you are playing with some new program, yes, it has worked all right. Would you please unblock me now? Thanks -- Andrew Dalby 14:30, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me too

You've blocked me because of my IP address, but I am not "067970327". — Loadmaster 14:37, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the speedy fix. — Loadmaster 19:33, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you've all been hit by autoblocks; apologies for this temporary inconvenience. I've just overridden several of them, so hopefully you should all be able to edit now if you couldn't before. Thanks, Sango123 14:32, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see, there aren't any more autoblocks left from any blocks I've issued in Special:Ipblocklist. Try editing again; if you still can't, please contact me here with the IP or username reported in the block message. Thanks, Sango123 14:43, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Odd, though, that everyone who was hit by it was seeing "your IP address 66.x.x.x has been blocked" when few, if any, seem to have actually had addresses in the 66.230.192.0 - 66.230.239.255 range (registered to some ISP in Florida that I've never heard of). I wonder whether the autoblock mechanism went doolally, or the thing that produces the "your IP address has been blocked" page was telling lies… Either way, if it happens again maybe someone should raise a bug. Regards Tonywalton  | Talk 14:57, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was hit by the same problem. Thanks for the quick response :-) Bastun 08:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also got autoblocked....

But everything seems to be ok now. Thank you for taking care of it so quickly! -- ProveIt (talk) 15:02, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redesign

can you redesign me user page to pagw it all pretty and colourful. Or at least teach me how to creat font and background colour, margins, and boxes.

Culverin 01:39, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked?

I just got told that you had blocked me, when I was using Vandal Proof. I guess this is a mistake. It said I had been blocked because I was on IP 72.14.192.48 (which I ain't), and that Xenocrap or something had been using that IP. It's weird because it doesn't seem to be a real block, it goes away and then comes back at random. Jim (Talk) 01:40, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is the message I'm getting:
Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by Sango123 for the following reason (see our blocking policy):
Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Xenochria". The reason given for :Xenochria's block is: "vandalism".
Your IP address is 72.14.192.48.
It's weird since that isn't my IP, and also it only seems to be happening when I use Vandal Proof. What's more, when it happens in VandalProof it sometime redirects me to the WP:AIV page and tells me "Vandal has already been reported", even though I was only reverting vandalism and not reporting anyone. Weird. Jim (Talk) 01:49, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New article

Hey! Sango123 I have written a new article I want to know what you think

I think it is wonderful, Sally, really I do. Please post a message on my userpage, it is empty.Bob Santanos (talk)

Although "consensus" was to delete the Barbara and Jenna Bush article, as I understand it, that is not allowed by the GFDL. Is this correct? Ardric47 07:10, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont have any prefrences. Go nuts. Do what you feel is neccessary.

Although i would like it to be a beige or blue colour.

Also thankyou very much for this i appreciate it very much. user: culverin 05:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey Sango I would ask Alphachmp but he is on Wikibreak[and so am I starting tomorrow] but look at the KCJJ article Do you think it should be nominated for deletion?Animereadabouter2 17:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You don't remember, you know, from the subway, you gave me a tissue as my nose bled onto the floor? You know? Seriously. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.23.100.236 (talkcontribs) 21:56, 22 August 2006.

No. Seriously. Sango123 22:03, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pic change?

How can you not remember Bob Santanos? He's famous... ;) Anyway... I was wondering if you would be able to do me a favour? On my user page, the above picture doesn't look very good when placed on the coloured page. However, I was wondering if you could create a new "Featured article star.svg" with the background colour of my user page? I would appreciate it a bunch. Anyway, if you can't that's cool. Thanks for your help & keep it real.... :) Spawn Man 23:39, 22 August 2006 (UTC). P.S. Yes, I have returneded from my relaxing wikibreak, just incase nobody knew. :)[reply]

BTW, Your TOC up there doesn't seem to be working. Just thought I'd let you know. Unless you already knew, in which case I look like an idiot lol. :) -- Spawn Man 23:44, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, never mind mind about the TOC thingy, musta seen it wrong lol. Um, what's a browser? Is internet explorer a browser? When I put the image on my user page, it shows up a white back ground, not the colour that is on there. I'm at a loss. Hope that helps? Spawn Man 03:14, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alas, I am a life long member of Internet Explorer. Thnaks for finding out the problem though! Would you still be able to create one with that colour anyway, unless there's some policy or rule against it or you don't want to, which are both fine. In a couple of weeks I'll be able to do all that though; I'm gonna get Photoshop for my comp. It should be great! Thanks Sango! Spawn Man 03:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Uh thanks... um.... "Sango"? I need a nickname to give you. A cool one. I love nicknames.... Thanks a bunch! Have a good night... Spawn Man 04:31, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User Boxes

Many people have userboxes on their user page; where can I obtain a list of all available userboxes? --Typer Boy 23:32, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you left a final warning on this user's talk page. As you can see here and here, the user has persisted in vandalising the EastEnders article. I thought it right to report it to you, as you were the one who gave the user a final warning. Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 14:12, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If they continue to vandalise after final warning, they will get indefinitely blocked. --Terence Ong (T | C) 14:19, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted article makes a comeback

Hi Sango. Quick question - I wrote an article an eon ago, before I had my username, entitled "student voice." After a few months it was deleted after the hoard decided "student voice" was not a encyclopedia-worthy term. Now a few years has past, the phrase is being used increasingly in school reform literature, and late last year someone created a new article under that name. I was just about to spend some time cleaning up their mess when I decided to ask what happened to the old article. Is there anyway that can be reverted to? I can't find that article anywhere. Can you help? Thx.Freechild 03:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sango123,

Could you give me a tip on how you get the "overflow:auto;" effect on your table of contents? I think it's really cool, but I can't figure out how you do it. Regards, Rfrisbietalk 02:35, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
