Early Career
Riley was raised in Lubbock and decided to walk-on for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Riley played quarterback at Texas Tech as a walk-on in 2002,[1] behind senior starter and future Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury and back-up B. J. Symons. After a year, he became a student assistant to Mike Leach.[1] He had been the offensive coordinator at East Carolina and also coached at Texas Tech under Mike Leach at Texas Tech University and Ruffin McNeill at East Carolina University.[2]
Oklahoma Sooners
