Factory Complex of Villars Maître Chocolatier, Fribourg

Villars Maitre Chocolatier is a Swiss chocolate company founded in 1901 and based in the city of Fribourg and uses the rich pastures from the Fribourg region of Switzerland to supply milk for its chocolates.Template:Http://www.villars.com/en/</ref> The company is noted for its success in selling to tourists, owing to a number of unique quality products, including chocolates with an unusually high percentage (in some cases 30%) of whole nuts such as hazelnuts or almonds , a 72% cocoa dark chocolate bar, as well as several liqueur-filled chocolates such as with Kirsch (swiss-cherry-brandy) or apricot brandy, and also napolitains.[1] The brand is actually hard to find in most places in Switzerland, where the Swiss either go to their local specialty shop house-chocolate maker which have a wider range of home-made products and similar in quality to Villars, or buy the low-priced main brand standard-type bars at the omnipresent main supermarkets: such as COOP or Migros supermarket-brand-chocolate. For higher-end chocolate made in quantity and by a Company, however, and not by a small local specialty-chocolate shop, Villars sits at the top of the scale of whats currently on offer by Switzerland.

The company is today directed by Alexandre Sacerdoti and employs around 140 staff. It is owned by the multinational Soparind Bongrain group.[2]
