Quanza / Kwanzaa ?
I removed the claim that the festival celebrated around January 6 is called "Quanza". True, one of the sources says so but I could not find any confirmation for this elsewhere (and the other sources given do not mention the name of the festival. I am especially doubtful, as "Quanza" sounds very much like Kwanzaa which was invented in the US in 1966 & the term derived from a Swahili word. The ancestors of the maroons came from nowhere near the Swahili speaking regions of Africa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.188.197.23 (talk) 00:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Recent edits
Some of the recent edits are somewhat problematic. This page is not the place to have a discussion about what a state is. Ferron Williams uses the phrase ""a State within a State". I feel this would best be served by a section on the constitutional position.
Also the removal of the information about Accompong being neutral during the Second Maroon War has been removed. I shall try an dfind a reference about this. Leutha (talk) 00:19, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
Moore Town link
I have moved the link to the right place: Moore Town, Jamaica. Leutha (talk) 08:14, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong genuine or fraud
|
@Maroon Master and Leutha: I haven't been able to find many reliable sources for Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong and Timothy Elisha McPherson Jr.. McPherson is apparently the Minister of Finance for Accompong and was involved in setting up the bank.
Sources supporting the bank and McPherson:
- Historical Meeting Between The Kingdom Of Ashanti And The Accompong Maroons In Jamaica published by modernghana.com
Sources questioning the intention of the bank:
- Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong , A.S.E.X Accompong Solar Energy Exchange Solar Reserve Bank,Accompong Solar Energy Exchange Internet published by Ripoff Report
Deadlinks removed from article:
The questions are: is the Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong real, if it is has it been involved in any fraudulent activity? Jonpatterns (talk) 14:06, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
