The Dead Room is a 2015 New Zealand horror, thriller film by writer and director Jason Stutter with Kevin Stevens co-writer (Tongan Ninja(2002)). ‘’The Dead Room’’ was inspired by the 1970s urban legend of a haunted farmhouse in Central Otago, New Zealand.
Plot
Liam, the technology wizard (Jeff Brody), Scott, the skeptical scientist in residence (Jeffrey Thomas), and Holly, the psychic (Laura Petersen) attempt to document paranormal activity in a remote New Zealand farmhouse. At first the three are skeptical but soon come to realize there is an angry demonic presence in the house that will stop at nothing to protect its secrets.

The Dead Room was released by IFC Midnight in New Zealand on October 31, 2015, in the USA on April 08, 2016 in New York, NY and on the internet. It was released in Kuwait May 05, 2016. Scream Factory is releasing the film on BluRay and DVD September, 06, 2016.
Reception
‘’The Dead Room’’ was universally panned by critics for its lack of believable fear. Rotten Tomatoes indicates a 21% liking rating with an average 2.5 out of 5 although there is no tomatometer available as yet. [1] IMDB rates this film a 4.7 out of 10. Matt Donato of We Got This Covered stated that although “You’ve visited haunted houses that are more hair-raising than The Dead Room[2] Noel Murray at the LA Times notes the lack of excitement or scary scenes and with the excpetion of the last 10 minutes when “Stutter builds to a genuinely impressive sequence of spooky special effects and mayhem.” [3]
