Kit Fisto is a character from the Star Wars universe, who appeared in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, as well as the Clone Wars animated series.

History

Taken from his homeworld of Glee Anselm at an early age, Fisto, a Nautolan, quickly shined in the Jedi Order as a youngling. He was trained by Yoda, who taught him his uncanny lightsaber skills, especially in Form I lightsaber combat technique.[citation needed]

Not much is known about any of Kit Fisto's accomplishments or missions before the Clone Wars except that he took a Mon Calamari Jedi named Bant Eerin to be his Padawan learner. [1] Bant Eerin graduated to Knighthood shortly before the Battle of Geonosis and fought in her Jedi starfighter above the desert planet. Fisto however played a much more important role in the terrible battle as he was one of the four commanders of the Jedi taskforce sent there to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi.

After the battle in the execution arena ended in failure and Fisto's outnumbered Jedi comrades were nearly destroyed, Master Yoda picked the survivors up with a new clone trooper army.

Kit Fisto wasted no time in taking over a fresh battalion of clone troopers to thwart an attempt by the droid army to burst through a canyon into the clone and Jedi ranks. This division of the operation was a success, yet the clone and Jedi death toll that day was still unthinkably large.

Weeks after the Battle of Geonosis Kit Fisto was given a seat on the Jedi Council, replacing the late Coleman Trebor, for his outstanding efforts. Following this Kit Fisto led a battalion of clone scuba troops to the peaceful Mon Calamari homeworld to end a civil dispute with the Quarrens, who were in league with Separatist leader Count Dooku. Fisto's troops there enjoyed a swift victory.[citation needed]

Over the course of the war, however, Kit Fisto developed a relationship with a fellow Jedi, the Rutian Twi'lek Aayla Secura. An example of this was when amphibious Kit Fisto saved the life of Secura on Kamino after Super battle droids plunged her into the raging waters of that stormy planet. Had they been outside of the Jedi Order this relationship may have expanded into love and maybe even marriage, a forbidden action in the Jedi Order.[2]

Kit Fisto also had dangerous encounters with Asajj Ventress on Ord Cestus and General Grievous on Coruscant during the war.[citation needed]

As the war came to an end with the destruction of Grievous on Utapau, Chancellor Palpatine grew more powerful each day, worrying the Jedi Council. Master swordsman Mace Windu led a strike team consisting of Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin, and Fisto to arrest the corrupt Chancellor.

When they arrived the Sith Lord Palpatine drew his lightsaber, quickly killing Kolar, then Tiin, and after blocking the Sith Lord's vicious attacks for a short time, Fisto was killed.

In the movie Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Fisto was sliced in the chest. But in the novelisation of the film Anakin Skywalker arrived in the Chancellor's office and found Fisto's head on Palpatine's desk. The optimistic, good-spirited Jedi's severed head was reportedly smiling.

Kit Fisto had a laid back outlook on life and believed it was his duty to use his powers to help the citizens of the galaxy. He is a Star Wars fan favorite and one of the few "popular minor Jedi." Also Hasbro has released several action figures of him. Sideshow has released a limited edition 12" figure of Kit Fisto as well.

Trivia

  • Originally, Kit Fisto was conceived as a Sith apprentice. The character was later modified into a Jedi Master.[3]
  • Possibly springing from his dark side origins, Fisto posed as one of Count Dooku's Dark Jedi during the campaign on Ord Cestus, going by the name Nemonus.[4]
  • He is an unlockable charater in Lego Star Wars for PS2, PC, Gamecube, and Xbox.

  • Kit Fisto is a selectable model in the Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy modification Movie Battles. However, he is considered to be annoying and is generally hated by players of the mod, mostly due to his annoying taunts which are very high pitched and extremely loud. Examples are, "Nice try, but you will not win," "The Force is not with you. Not today," and an alien laugh.
  • In the Clone Wars cartoon series, Kit's outfit includes two fish in the shape and colour of a ying-yang on his belt buckle.
