Christopher Martin is an American trumpet player who was named the principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic in May of 2016 and will begin his tenure there in September of 2016.[1]He was previously Principal trumpet for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (2005-2016) and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and was Associate Principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra.[2] During his time in Chicago, Martin gave the world premieres of many trumpet concerti.[3]

Martin is a native of Marietta, Georgia and an alumnus of the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer.[4] He is a runner, and has completed numerous marathons. He also was a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle corps in 1993.[5]
