Your edit to DJKAM did not include a reference so has been reverted. If you want to make an edit again, it needs a reference to a published independent reliable source. The web address you mentioned in your question did not mention DJKAM, and is in any case not independent. You also need to read the advice on editing where you have a conflict of interest. --David Biddulph (talk) 02:10, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have a discussion with another user about the article Joseph Stalin. Point of discussion is the removal of the Russian script name and his birth name. User:0xF8E8 thinks that it is irrelevant & clutter and can be cut out, I think it is relevant. The Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biographies is not very clear abut it but mentions foreign script name and pronunciation in one of its examples (Muammar Gaddafi). We had some discussion (User_talk:The_Banner#Joseph_Stalin) but I does not look very fruitful.

Merging two articles about the same ship

There is currently an article HMS Lynx (F27), about a former Royal Navy ship, and a separate article BNS Abu Bakar (1982) about the same ship after it was sold to Bangladesh. I vaguely remember that other ship articles had all the info combined under the original name, but not sure if that's right or if there's a "correct" way to merge them. Can I even do a merge, not being an established editor? 93.51.68.57 (talk) 08:19, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    • Yes, you can, unless someone already said it should not be done. If someone disagrees afterwards, they can always revert the merge, and then discuss on the talk page (see WP:BRD); but there is no need to assume opposition when there might be none.
Looking at the articles, it seems obvious to me that a merge would be good. The only question is which title should redirect to the other; i.e., what is the WP:COMMONNAME for that ship. I would say to go with the most recent (Abu Bakar) by default, and redirect Lynx to there, but I have no strong feelings about it. TigraanClick here to contact me 11:53, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey person editing from 93.51.68.57. When you perform the merge, please be sure to comply with copyright—it's a common pitfall when people perform merges, especially when inexperienced in them, though it's actually not all that difficult. All you need to do, as advised at Wikipedia:Merging (and see especially the section at the shortcut WP:MERGETEXT), is be sure – after you've placed the content but before you hit save – that you have composed an edit summary that states what you are doing, and links to the source of the merged content. For example, "Merged content from [[HMS Lynx (F27)]] to here." Likewise, when you redirect the source article to the merge target, leave an attribution edit summary like: "Merged content to [[BNS Abu Bakar (1982)]]". Help me with music single articles please!!

Question 1: I'm currently working on The Boxer (The Chemical Brothers song), I want to list its Digital download single, but it was released everywhere on iTunes except the US, how can I list all of the countries on my Release history table? Should I only name 3, 4 countries randomly ?

Question 2: And what's the deal about CD/vinyl/etc... formats, should I list it when I have sources (Discogs, Amazon, Eli,...)? For example, if I see a CD of "The Boxer" on Amazon Japan but it said "Import", I shouldn't list it on my table right? Because it's "Import"?

Question 3: Now that Radio & Records website is dead, can somebody help me find the airplay release sources for the track? I've found one here, but I want to find it on Rhythmic radio. It's so hard to find it on Wayback Machine.

Question 4: In "Track listings" section, I have this track list called "Non-US radio edit digital download", so should I list like 10, 11 links to prove that is a "Non-US" release or just one randomly?

    /doc on other Wikipedias

Does someone know how to define several values in order to have documentation subpages recognized as such on other Wikipedia, particularly sr.wiki (/док and /dok should have same effect as /doc).

Problem arose after translating /doc for module documentation subpages on TranslateWiki (here) because /doc was used instead of /док and if it is changed to /док – previously created module documentations get recognized by software as pure modules instead of normal Wikipedia page i.e. documentation subpage. --Obsuser (talk) 04:42, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Using a pushpin map in infobox template

I am trying to use the pushpin map parameter of Template:Infobox church to render a map of Vatican City pictured to the right. Ideally, I would like the option to select different maps at different zoom levels like that found in the infobox of St. Patrick's Cathedral (Manhattan), the lower zooms being Rome and Italy. However, when I enter "Vatican City" into the parameter, I see an error warning. Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer advice. Ergo Sum 04:54, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ergo Sum: Adding | pushpin map = Vatican City#Rome to User:Ergo Sum/sandbox/St. Peter's Basilica infobox will make it show two maps, one of Vatican City, and one of Rome with an inset map of Italy. Unfortunately the same caption is displayed below each map; St. Patrick's Cathedral (Manhattan) displays only one caption below its three maps, and I haven't worked out the difference. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:00, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(More) To get two maps with only one caption would need a change to Template:Infobox church, I think. It passes the map caption down to Template:Location map, whereas Template:Infobox NRHP displays it separately. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:12, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

gif to svg, bot to replace?

I converted a .gif image to an .svg image from the https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Top_200_map_images_that_should_use_vector_graphics. First I made changes to the original .png to improve it; added the rest of the island of Great Britian, recolored the image so adjacent areas were distinct, and added a black line at the boarders. Then I uploaded my .gif with the exact same name as the original, execpt for the extension, because mine was in the gif format.
QUESTION ONE: How did my new version get so many links?
Overnight there were dozens of links listed. Then I saw the note that the image should be an .svg, so I converted my new image, and uploaded the new .svg version. The reason the image is on that list is that it is used on a lot of Wikipages.
QUESTION TWO: is there a bot that will fire up, and replace all .gif usages with my .svg image?
I am doing this one Wikipage at a time, by hand edits; on both the .gif, and the original .png pages in Wikimedia. I mean I am clicking on the links in the "Used on" list, one at a time, and editing those pages. Thanks, Nick Beeson (talk) 13:31, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Accidentally Submitted Duplicate Articles

Hello thank you for reading this. I wrote an article, Alfred Young, (now Draft:Alfred Young) in my sandbox, and accidentally submitted it twice.

My sandbox initially indicated that my submission was number ~600 in line for review.

Directly after, I also created a draft page of my article hoping to migrate my work onto the draft page (I now realize this probably confused my situation further).

The next day, my sandbox said that the submission had been declined because it was a duplicate and that my other submission was queued for review.

I wish to edit the queued submission.

The moderator who declined the duplicate said to stick to either a draft or the sandbox so I requested the draft be deleted.

A link to the draft now appears on my sandbox page instead of the article itself and the draft is now the only copy of the article I can find.

My question is: is my article Alfred Young still in line for review in some form? I would like the most current version of Draft:Alfred Young to be considered for my submission - what steps are necessary, if any, to accomplish this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dlynn55 (talkcontribs) 19:14, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) @Dlynn55: What's happened here is somewhat complicated - the page previously titled Draft:Alfred Young was deleted at your request five days ago. Then, than same day, User:Dlynn55/sandbox was moved to Draft:Alfred Young. Thus, there is only one draft currently, which is not submitted for review. You could sumbit that without it being declined as duplicate. Pppery (talk) 20:14, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hi and thanks for the article! It looks like you requested deletion of one of the two, which was done on August 1. The version now at Draft:Alfred Young is not pending review at this time. It was taken out of the queue when the other version was reviewed. You can edit the current (and only) version at any time at Draft:Alfred Young. CrowCaw 20:21, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you both for your prompt answers - I now see in my sandbox logs that somebody other than I moved my sandbox article to Draft:Alfred Young. I originally submitted my article some time ago - if I submit again is there any way I can recover my place in the queue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dlynn55 (talkcontribs) 23:14, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Dlynn55: Not that I know of. You'll have to wait for your draft to reach the front of the line. There is no deadline anyway. Pppery (talk) 23:40, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Your place in the queue wasn't changed by the renaming of the draft. The date of submission of the draft is the date that you submitted it, not the date that I moved it. In other words, just be patient. The moving (renaming) didn't change your place in the queue. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:28, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The draft is not currently in the queue, because it has not yet been resubmitted after its last review. It is, of course, not a "first in, first out" queue. --David Biddulph (talk) 00:36, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thank you, I'll submit my draft for review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dlynn55 (talkcontribs) 02:04, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Curiositymarsrover: I don't know Romanian or Lua (the language used by modules), but after this module edit the infobox used in ro:Ionel Agrigoroaei appears to ignore the imagine parameter and only look for an image name in the wikidata item wikidata:Q19702949 which had no image. Lists

Further to a recent question at the Teahouse, our article List of animal welfare groups contains several red-links, and some external links. I was under the impression that red links were deprecated in lists, as notable subjects should have their own articles written first, and external inks in any article body were also frowned upon. Little Danny Baker and Bill Davis have been grossly left out of being mentioned as true purveyors of the Tulsa Sound. Visit the Tulsa Sound label www.bisonrecords.com which is owned by Little Danny Baker. Just read and listen to the credits about Baker and you will see that he has been left out as well as Larry Bell, David Tanner and, Phil Seymour. All artists appearing on Baker's CD;s and label. I have numerous newspaper articles and photographs and recordings to prove everything mentioned in this e-mail. Baker has been a Tulsa Sound artist for 34 years. Just trying to be fair in giving credits and mention to the true Tulsa Sound innovators. Please call or write if you care to discuss this further. Thank you for your time.

Why was Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Stubs/Aaron Banda deleted? Why not work to improve not to delete? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sulky mulky (talkcontribs) 21:22, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sulky mulky: It looks like it was deleted after a discussion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Stubs/Aaron Banda. The closure says it was deleted without prejudice against the creation of a draft or mainspace article. It sounds like this was mostly housekeeping, as the article was stored in a non-standard place. If you asked either Ricky81682 or xaosflux to restore the article to draft space, they probably would; both are administrators. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 21:33, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
