Mia (born Vilija Pilibaitytė on 19 July 1983[1]) is Lithuanian singer, songwriter, and TV host. She debuted in 2004 with airplay single "Kiekvienam". Since 2009, she started her host career in TV3 (Lithuania) by hosting show "Muzikinė karuselė“ (musical carousel). She was a contestant in "Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka, the competition which that selected Lithuania's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. She placed second, after Vilija Matačiūnaitė. She entered the 2015 Lithuanian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and qualified to the final together with Vaidas Baumila and Monika Linkytė. She then placed second again.
Career
2004-2008: Early career and debut album
Mia became popular with her debut song "Kiekvienam" in 2004. In the same year she released her debut single "Aš krentu".
Later she signed a contract with a famous Lithuanian record studio "Melodija" and started recording her first album. In 2005 she released her new song "Nešk mane" that was recorded with basketball player Tyrone Nesby. Mia released another song with Tyrone called "Ar tu tai žinai?".
Mia covered a song "Sapnai" by SEL and was recognized by band leader Egidijus Dragūnas. Later they wrote a song together called "Muzika" for the new SEL album. In 2007 they won an award for best song in "Bravo" awards. Mia was also nominated in best female singer category at "Vaikų balsas".
In the same year Mia released a new song "Yra, kaip yra", that later won the best song award in "Radiocentras" and "Vaikų balsas" in 2008. Mia also won the best female singer award in "Vaikų balsas". After that singer released her debut album "Yra, kaip yra" and participated in projects like "Žvaigždžių duetai" and "Kaimo grožybės". She also hosted a television reality show "Trečias nereikalingas".
2009-2013: Second album and other television projects
In 2009 Mia was nominated for the best female singer award "Vaikų balsas" and one LNK music project "Žvaigždžių duetai". After that Mia participated in other TV3 project called "Žvaigždžių karai" and also hosted "Muzikos karuselė". In November Mia released her second album "Stiklo namai".
In 2010 she attended another TV3 project "Chorų karai", hosted "Muzikos čempionų taurė" and won best female singer in "Vaikų balsas".
In 2011 Mia recorded a song with Marijonas Mikutavičius and Mantas Jankavičius "Nebetyli sirgaliai". English version of the song "Celebrate basketball" became the official basketball anthem for the 2011 Basketball Euro Championships (hosted in Lithuania). Later TV3 created a TV series based on singers life "Kas nori nužudyti Mią?" Mia even created a song for series "Apkabink".
Mia participated in LNK dancing project "Kviečiu šokti" and singing projects like "Dainuok, jei gali" and "Žvaigždžių duetai".
2014–present: Eurovizija
In 2014 Mia tried to win the Eurovision Song Contest Lithuanian national selection, but ended up in second place. After the contest Mia said that she would not go to attend the Eurovision selection next year, but she gave a second try and in the 2015 Lithuanian selection she made it to the final with Monika Linkytė and Vaidas Baumila. She placed second again.
