David Mazouz (/dəˈviːd məˈzuːz/)[2] is an American actor. He first came to prominence for his lead role as mute Jacob "Jake" Bohm in the TV series Touch[3] and is best known as young Bruce Wayne in Fox's TV series Gotham, based on the DC Comics superhero created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane.[4]

Career

Mazouz started his career in commercials opposite Kiefer Sutherland at age eight.[2] In 2012, Mazouz again co- starred with Sutherland when he landed the role of mute Jacob "Jake" Bohm in the TV series Touch.[3] Mazouz has acted in several television series including Mike & Molly, The Office, and Criminal Minds. Mazouz also appeared in the ABC show Private Practice as the adopted brother of Betsy.

In 2014, Mazouz won the role of Bruce Wayne in Fox's TV series Gotham.[4] In 2015, he has a starring role in The Darkness (formerly 6 Miranda Drive) as Michael Taylor.[5] Mazouz was cast in the 2015 film, Incarnate.[6]

Personal life

Mazouz was born in Los Angeles, California, to Rachel, a psychotherapist, and Michael Mazouz, a physician.[7] He has a sister, Rebecca. Mazouz and his family are Sabbath-observing, Kosher-keeping, observant Jews, of Sephardi descent.[7]
