Lin Dan
Lin Dan (Chinese: 林丹) (born October 14, 1983, in Longyan (龙岩), Fujian province) is a men's singles badminton player from Fujian, the People's Republic of China. Since 2004, he had been ranked number 1 in the world for two years. As of August 2006, Lin Dan was ranked 2nd in the world, after Peter Gade from Denmark.
Lin played in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he lost to Ronald Susilo of Singapore (originally from Indonesia) in the early rounds. He lost to Taufik Hidayat in the singles final of the 2005 World Badminton Championships. In 2005, Lin Dan beat Bao Chunlai in three different Chinese championships: China Masters, China National Games, and Hong Kong Open.
His girlfriend is Xie Xingfang who is also a top badminton player. They made a romantic moment when both together won All England 2006 in Birmingham.
