Charles Uwagbai
Charles Uwagbai[1] is an award winning producer and director. He has a vast experience in media production, directing, editing, and animation. His works include high-rated TV/radio commercials, documentaries, reality shows and movies, among others. Charles Uwagbai has been reckoned for bringing projects from concept to reality, with a passion for turning the best ideas into shows and movies that entertain and inspire. He is highly respected in the corporate and entertainment industry for his strong sense of visual aesthetics, exceptional creativity, expertise in motion pictures as well as his passion for 3D multimedia designs. He is a skilled editor experienced in creative development, production and post-production of computer animation, flash and digital effects projects for film and television. Charles Uwagbai, a graduate of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, is the C.E.O of creative unit multi-media Ltd, Lagos.
Having acquired training in Innovative Brand Experience, he is adept at growing brand equity through the ways he communicates inspiring brand stories via out-of-the-box media productions. He has consulted for numerous top-notch clients, which include: Airtel, Glo, MNET, Strategic Outcomes, FlyKite Productions ltd, Cosse TTL., Dkk and associates, Lowe Lintas, Top Tea[2] Cowbell[3] among others.
Charles Uwagbai is one of the leading figures in new Nollywood (a new standard in Nollywood which places emphasis on remarkable storyline, production quality, top-tier acts and equipment)
Recognitions
Amongst movies he produced and directed, Okoro ‘The Prince’[4], The Black Silhouette[5] and Breathless[6] have earned loads of recognition. Okoro ‘The Prince’ movie was nominated for several categories at the 2013 AMAA[7] and ZAFAA awards and won Best Actor at the 2012 ZAFAA Awards in London The Black Silhouette[8] got nomination for GIAMA Awards[9] [10] in Houston , USA ; BON Awards. It won an award for Best Actress at the GIAMA USA and Best Child actor at the BON Awards[11]. Breathless bagged three nominations. This include a nomination at the fifth Annual Nollywood and African Films Critics' Awards (NAFCA) also known as the African Oscars[12], with Mike Ezuruonye being nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the classic movie. Breathless, through Mike Ezuruonye’s role, got a nomination for Best Actor Drama (TV/Series) at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), while Nwachukwu, was nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Supporting Role[13]. He also produced and directed films Bro Jekwu[14] (Shot in Nigeria, Kenya & Tanzania), and Just Drive. He directed Deep Fever[15]
