The 2016–17 season is the 200th season of competitive football by Heart of Midlothian. It is the club's second season of play in the top tier of Scottish football, having been promoted from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2014–15 season,[2] having played just one season in the Scottish Championship.[3] The club had been relegated from the Premiership at the end of the 2013–14 season.[4] Hearts will also compete in the League Cup, Scottish Cup and the Europa League.[5][6]
