Mustafa Abdel-Wadood (born January 8th, 1970) is an Egyptian businessperson and investor, living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He currently is a Partner and Global Head of Abraaj’s Regional Fund Businesses, responsible for the Firm’s performance in relation to all of its regional.[1] The Abraaj Group (formerly known as Abraaj Capital) is the leading private equity investor operating in the growth markets of Africa, Latin America, Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia, Turkey and Central Asia. The Abraaj Group currently manages US$ 9.0 billion across 20+ sector and country-specific Funds, encompassing private equity and real estate investments. [2]

He done his bachelor's degree from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from Georgetown University, both in Business Administration.[3][4]
Career
He started his career in 1992 at Orascom Group and served as Director of Business Development. Between 2000 and 2003 he worked as Managing Director for Sigma Capital. In 2004 he joined EFG-Hermes, where he was Chief Executive Officer for the UAE. Since 2006 he served The Abraaj Group, he is a partner at The Abraaj Group and Global Head of Abraaj’s regional fund businesses. [5] [6] [7]
Awards and nominations
Mustafa was selected as one of the "Global Leaders of Tomorrow" in 2002, and as a "Young Global Leader" in 2008 by the World Economic Forum. [8]In 2007, He was also awarded the "American University in Cairo Alumni Achievement Award". He has appeared in publications and on business TV channels and is a speaker on issues related to private equity, emerging markets, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and the Middle East. Social engagement
He is a member of the Dubai Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization and was a founding member of the board of the Young Arab Leaders.[13] He is a board member of the UAE Chapter of Endeavor, a US based organization focusing on promoting and supporting Entrepreneurship.[14] He serves on the advisory board of the American University in Cairo School of Business as well as the Global Business Initiative of the Georgetown School of Business. [15]In 2007, he established the "Public School Abdel-Wadood Mustafa Scholarship" at the American University in Cairo, awarded to outstanding students from Egyptian public schools. [16]
