Fifty Shades of Black is a 2016 American comedy film directed by Michael Tiddes and starring Marlon Wayans, who also co-wrote and co-produced the film. The film is a parody of the 2015 erotic romantic drama film Fifty Shades of Grey and as like as Fifty Shades of Grey ,the film follows Hannah ,a college student whose going to interview wealthy businessman named Christian Black ,falling in love with him but soon she reveals that he isn't her type.
The film was theatrically released on January 29, 2016. Upon its release, the film was critical failure and was a box office bomb, grossing $21 million against budget of $5 million. Despite general negative critical reaction, some critics highly praised the humor.
Synopsis
Hannah (Kali Hawk), is an unattractive college student who goes to interview wealthy entrepreneur Christian Black (Marlon Wayans), at his Black Enterprises office building for her roommate's school newspaper. Despite the fact that he made his money through shady means (and a stint as a male stripper), she falls for him, but soon discovers he's not the romantic type.

Production
On June 3, 2015, it was announced that Open Road Films had acquired the US distribution rights to the yet-to-be made film for $5 million.[8][9]
Principal photography on the film began August 11, 2015 in Los Angeles.[10]
Release
The film was released on January 29, 2016, in North America and Poland. It was released in the United Kingdom on 11 March 2016, whilst the film was released in the Czech Republic on 28 January.
Home media
The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 19, 2016.[11]
Reception
Box office
Fifty Shades of Black has grossed $11.5 million in North America and $6.6 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $18.1 million, against a budget of $5 million.[12]
The film was released in North America on January 29, 2016, alongside Kung Fu Panda 3, The Finest Hours, and Jane Got a Gun. The film was projected to gross $10–11 million from 2,075 theaters in its opening weekend.[13] The film grossed $275,000 from its Thursday night previews, $2.3 million on its first day, and $5.9 million in its opening weekend, finishing 10th at the box office.[14]
Critical response
On Rotten Tomatoes the film has a rating of 7%, based on 42 reviews, with an average rating of 2.8/10. The site's consensus reads, "Wildly erratic even for a spoof movie, Fifty Shades of Black bears the unfortunate distinction of offering fewer laughs than the unintentionally funny film it's trying to lampoon."[15] On Metacritic, the film has a score of 28 out of 100, based on 11 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews".[16] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "C" on an A+ to F scale.[14]
British film critic Mark Kermode gave the film a negative and short review, saying simply, "It's just not funny." [17]
