Hedayat Mosque

The Hedayat mosque (Persian:مسجد هدایت) is a mosque located in Tehran, Tehran Province, in Iran. The location has played a significant role in Iranian religious revolutionary movements against the Pahlavi regime. This mosque was built and managed by Ayatollah Mahmoud Taleghani.

Description

The Hedayat mosque was built in 1327 and from the beginning was used by many movements against the Pahlavi regime. Here, people were educated according to Islamic goals. Ayatollah Mahmoud Taleghani was a contemporary of the Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and a leader in his own right of the movement against the secularist Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The building is located in Jomhoori Street, Tehran which was previously called the Stanbol crossroads.

Political activities

Ayatollah Mahmoud Taleghani attracted many people to participate in the programs of the mosque. He invited Ulama and intellectuals to lecture at Hedayat mosque.[1]Mohammad-Javad Bahonar also had lectures like criticism of situation of Hijab in Hedayat mosque.[2]most of the greats revolutionary young encouraged and attracted by a YATOLLAH Taleghani.Soebodies like Mostafa Chamran, Takhti, Navvab Safavi, Jalal Al Ahmad, and Ali Shariati participated in these sessions.theis mosque,besides, make resemble a minaret in desert.[3]
