A Day in Black and White are a band based in Washington, DC who formed in 2001. They have released 2 full-length albums, "My heroes have always killed cowboys" (2004) and "Notes" (2005), a split 10" with the band Navies (2005), and a split with Black Castle. Genres they have been described as include post-punk, post-hardcore, experimental/indie rock and even post-emo. Their sound has been compared to bands such as Sonic Youth and Fugazi. "Notes" is stylistically different to their first full-length and is generally considered to be less intense. Vocalist/guitarist Daniel Morse said: "We had gotten pigeonholed a bit but writing the songs on Notes really helped us break through some barriers". They are currently signed to Level Plane Records.
