Soclmedia (talk) 09:46, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Soclmedia. Go to your draft. Read the reviewer's explanation at the top of the page in the grey box inside the pink notice. Click on all the links to the guidance pages in that explanation and read all of those pages thoroughly. If you still have questions after that, come back to the help desk. 17:35:10, 5 October 2016 review of submission by Nathancurtis1
{{Lafc|username=Nathancurtis1|ts=17:35:10, 5 October 2016|page= Here is the draft I'm trying to make.
Nathan David Lamardo Curtis (born September 23, 1993) is a poet and lyricist. Aside from being a gifted poet Nathan's lyrics are compared to Anita Baker and Richard Marx. Nathan has five poetry collections on the market. He was born in Freeport, Bahamas and now resides in New York. He is the President and Chairman of Helio Capital. Helio Capital creates resorts and casinos worldwide. At only age 18 Nathan wrote his first poetry collection called, "Songs of a Melancholy Heart," this put him on the map in 2012. Before this first publication was made, he got one rejection after another. It was tough enough since he just graduated high school and was concentrating on college. Curtis often gets shy when he is recognized for the work he has done or when someone asks about his future work. Curtis often says "it isn’t an invasion of privacy, but he prefers to love the world inside his mind better than that outside his mind." Curtis never believed that he would make such impact on the world through writing but always dared to dream beyond what his eyes could see. 2014 was indeed the golden year and return of the talented Nathan Curtis “N8te” to the international literary world shocking everyone with not one but three publications. Nathan took a two-year writing break from 2012-2014. Nathan has also subsequently submitted his lyrics with his team for Broadway and to numerous international recording artist. Nathan is the youngest from the Bahamas to publish internationally with “Songs of A Melancholy Heart,” and to own his first business. Nathan embraces not knowing what the future will bring. "Like poetry, I will go off part emotion, part brain and part love to decide my next move." Nathan wants to show his love for poetry and wants always to impact someone with his writing even after he is gone. Nathan says, “A great human being not only wants for today but for tomorrow as well, to dwell but not to physically dwell, to help even if not tangibly but emotionally.” |
I am not trying to sell anything, I am only trying to make a biography Wikipedia page for him. He is a very notable poet and lyrcist nationally. Nathancurtis1 (talk) 17:35, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- This has already been discussed at the Teahouse at length. Are you Nathan Curtis? If so, read the autobiography guideline and the conflict of interest policy and consider that you are not writing about yourself in a formal neutral tone. (Maybe a poet can't be expected to be formal and neutral.) If you are Nathan Curtis, please stop using the third person; it doesn't succeed in distancing yourself from your writings about yourself. If you are not Nathan Curtis, you need to change your user name. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:28, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi,
My apologies about not updating the review in 12 months. Unfortunately I had personal matters that took me away from my work.
I have turned my mind to updating the work and adding numerous external soucres and removing certain sources.
I hope this is now sufficient.
If not I look forward to hearing your thoughts and making those changes.
Thanks again,
Tom

22:38:50, 6 October 2016 review of submission by Rockrollcritic
- Rockrollcritic (talk · contribs) (TB)
My submission was declined on the basis that the subject clearly doesn't meet your guideline for musicians. I did read these guidelines before I began the page. I thought it met in particular the first part of the criteria for musicians and ensembles. I modelled the page on the following clearly prominent music artists:
John Lee Hooker Leonard Cohen Elvis Presley Bob Dylan The Rolling Stones Nick Cave David Bowie
I used the same publications and websites for references (Q, Mojo, The Wire, Uncut, The Quietus, Under the Radar, Clash, Fact, NME, AllMusic, Discogs), together with other notable national publications (the newspapers The Scotsman, The National) and websites (Tate).
I don't want this to seem as if I'm unduly relying on the "what about x?" argument, beyond all abstract guidelines needing to be anchored in inevitable precedence/example, as the "what about x?" wiki page accepts.
(I also used the wikipedia entries for Ela's contemporaries, such as Slim Twig, U.S. Girls and Dirty Beaches, with whom she's recorded split albums, as models. Also many similar artists including People Like Us, Peaking Lights, Pocahaunted, The Space Lady and Saturday Looks Good To Me.)
- Below the statement by the reviewer, a comment was left that your submission may not be notable enough to have its own page. JTP (talk • contribs) 19:39, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

I want to update my userpage to indicate that I have a COI. I work for a marketing company that represents a grocery store chain. I stated that and then linked to my company's page that shows they on the client list but not sure how else to reference that they are a client. I tried to follow the formula provided but must have done something wrong. Please assist.

If you have a conflict regarding future articles, you may insert the names in the blank numbered fields by pressing edit at the top of your user page. TimothyJosephWood 14:18, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

My page submission was declined because it did not have enough good references on it. I have now added a lot more context to the page as well as references from universities, businesses and other government organizations. Can I re-submit the page now? Is there anything that I am missing that might result in rejection again?

- What have others, not connected with the company, said about the software? That is more important than what the company says about the software. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:28, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- You probably should change your username. Your username is the same as the product, and that is promotional. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:30, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

00:19:06, 10 October 2016 review of submission by JEFFLOYNES
- JEFFLOYNES (talk · contribs) (TB)
Two matters: (1) Disagreement with the reviewer as to the manner of writing. It definitely does not promote the Foundation and is written in a very matter of fact modality. Our Board of Directors, which includes a Member of Parliament, 3 Academics - one of whom is a prior UN Secretariat and another who was a former Dean at Univ. of Hawaii - plus the Chairman of the Red Cross Society and former members of SOPAC, SPREP, CHOGRM, ACP Advisory Board to the EU, plus other well established international organizations, all disagree with the reviewer. It seems the reviewer did not read the article but only scanned it, as he stated the name of the organization was never mentioned, when in fact it was mentioned 6 times. It also seems he has confused the goals and differences of the organization, which must be stated as they are the primary reason the Foundation warrants an article, with "self-promotion". It is nothing of the kind and the article is written in a very formal manner, according to our Board. If it is believed that the article is 'advertising' for the Foundation then I ask to cite exactly where in the article this is apparent, so that I might modify the content at that point.
(2) The reviewer has asked to cite references others have made about the Foundation. This is impossible. Again, he did not read the article. The Foundation was only recently incorporated and has not yet as an operating entity established a track record. We are preparing, however, a list of references addressing the issues the Fondation that are focus points of other organizations. JEFFLOYNES (talk) 00:19, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- The article in question is User:JEFFLOYNES/sandbox. On a third read of the draft, having read it twice before declining, I can infer, but am guessing, that its name is the Island Prosperity Foundation. If it was only recently incorporated and does not yet have a track record as an operating entity, see WP:TOOSOON. Wikipedia is more interested in what others have written about your organization than what you have written about yourself. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:35, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Request on 02:48:41, 10 October 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by JEFFLOYNES
- JEFFLOYNES (talk · contribs) (TB)
Submission of article was declined as "unambiguous Advertising". Our Board of Directors, which includes a Member of Parliament, a former UN Secretariate, 4 PhDs, 3 Academics (including a Dean from the Univ. of Hawaii), and members of SOPAC, SPREP, CHOGM, plus the Red Cress Chair, all disagree with the reviewer and all agree the article is not bias. Please advise where there seems to be bias or unambiguous advertising and we will edit the contents. Please do not confuse the uniqueness of the Foundation's goals with advertising.
The name of the Foundation is mentioned in 6 places (the reviewer said it was not mentioned anywhere.. I suspect the reviewer did not read the article)
I suspect the article is missing the page title..
Please advise.
JEFFLOYNES (talk) 02:48, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- You are asking people within the subject if the subject is biased, which is a huge conflict of interest. Also, the reviewer did read the article; he/she cannot review it without reading it. JTP (talk • contribs) 14:56, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- The article was speedy deleted as unambiguous advertising. Since the author says that the foundation is new and has not been in business long enough to establish a reputation, it is almost certainly too soon for the foundation to meet corporate notability. Hello, I wrote an article on a book. From the other articles that I read, there doesn't seem to be a fixed format for individual chapter summary. I'd want to know if I should continue improving my draft article (there are 14 chapters, 350 pages approx) or wait 2 - 3 weeks for the draft to be reviewed and considered fit to continue? Is there a way to know immediately just that much - whether the topic of the article is ok or not per Wikipedia guidelines? Thank you.
Roshni Kanchan (talk) 19:37, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- Drafts that have empty chapter headings, as yours does, are almost always declined as incomplete. I don't recommend writing a chapter summary of each chapter. A long summary of the contents of a book, such as it would be if you summarize each chapter, reads like an advertisement for the book. If your objective is to describe the notability of the book, please provide summaries of reviews and similar third-party discussion. If your real objective is to advertise the book, some other medium than Wikipedia is more appropriate. What have others, such as reviewers, written about the book? Also, do you have a conflict of interest? Robert McClenon (talk) 12:46, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

- See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Robert McClenon (talk) 12:36, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
- Because you didn't nominate the other bookstore for deletion. Robert McClenon (talk) 12:36, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
- There was a deletion discussion of the notability of your bookstore, which concluded that it was not notable. An article that is re-created following a deletion discussion that is substantially the same as the deleted article can be speedily deleted as per G4, the rule against re-creation after deletion discussion. If you disagree with the deletion discussion, you can ask for its review at deletion review or demonstrate that your article is a substantial improvement on the deleted article. Robert McClenon (talk) 12:36, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
- See the conflict of interest policy. You appear to be one of the owners of the bookstore. Robert McClenon (talk) 12:36, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
