Jack Whetton (born 24 May 1992) is a New Zealand Rugby Union player who currently plays as a lock for Yorkshire Carnegie in the RFU Championship

Whetton started out his playing career in North Harbour, playing two years of club rugby there before debuting in the 2012 ITM Cup for Template:Rut Northland. He switched to Template:Rut Auckland for the 2013 season due to personal reasons and played 9 matches as his side made the semi-finals of the competition. His performances caught the attention of the Template:Rut Blues Super Rugby franchise who wanted to contract him to their wider training group for the 2013 Super Rugby season. In a controversial move that shocked the rugby world, he turned down their offer and instead signed for the Template:Rut Brumbies in October 2012.

Whetton comes from a family with a rich rugby tradition. His father Gary played 180 games for Auckland and 58 for the All Blacks and is the chairman of the Blues franchise which made his switch to the Brumbies all the more surprising. His uncle Alan also played 65 tests for the All Blacks and spent 12 years with Auckland.

He is eligible to play for to play international rugby for New Zealand, Germany and Australia. He qualifies for New Zealand through his parents, Germany through birth and for Australia through his grandfather. It has always been the wish of his grandfather for him to wear the green and gold of Australia, which has often caused much friction between the Whetton family at Christmas.

On 2 December 2014, Whetton signed a short-term deal with Leicester Tigers until the end of the season. During this time, he lived on Regent Rd in the infamous 'Fort Skins' household along with Tommy Evans, Fraser James and Gregory Howard Peterson. Known around town for his clumsy spilling of baked beans, he was often given cans of Heinz 'Beanz' at Welford Road Stadium from fans and other patrons of the club. This running joke, while harmless at first, eventually led to Whetton looking for playing opportunities in France.

During his time in Nevers, Whetton experienced many strange disturbances in his house. From the moment he moved in, items would be moved between rooms, and doors would slam shut unexpectedly. One evening in September 2015, Whetton claimed to have been visited by a spirit who told him that Argentina would finish fourth at the upcoming Rugby World Cup tournament; a prophecy that came to fruition. One month later Whetton turned up to training completely bald, eyebrows and all. He claimed that the spirits in his house did it while he slept, telling him in his dreams that it would "make him a better scrummager". The club's owner had had enough of the hauntings at this point, and called his brother-in-law, the famous Philippe-Xavier Montipellion, who was an exorcist. Only those who were in the room on the evening of November 4, 2015, know what truly went down when Montpellion visited. Whetton vowed to never speak of the evil he faced that night, but has said on more than one occasion that the experience was "scary AF". Whetton lost four kilos during the exorcism.
