Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 2a03:2880:3010:cff4:face:b00c:0:8000 (talk) at 09:01, 26 October 2016 (Zama Arman: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7 or G11 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Instructions for special cases

Promotion content which violates G11 will be removed and although credible sources have been mentioned, more will be added for A7 -Mohdify (talk) 11:23, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, for a restoration, you need to explicitly show and cite what, where and why you improve it, and that you acknowledge the concerns of it; a G11 advertising is quite rarely restored if it was simply existing for advertising. For example, for a subject to be notable and acceptable, we need in-depth third-party sources such as news (note press releases and simple mentions are not convincing for notability, therefore, please state here what improvements you would actually make, considering these notes). Another solution to G11 is actually restarting it altogether with new contents and at least using a WP:AFC Draft so it can be reviewed. SwisterTwister talk 23:11, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Llama

Provided notability with new association -Spookyhaunts (talk) 08:21, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since it looks like some A7 material might get restored as well, I'm going to tag GorillaWarfare on this just to make sure that she's OK with this. Offhand I see no reason not to restore this, although I'd recommend restoring it to WP:AfC. I'm concerned that Llama might not pass notability guidelines given the sourcing on the deleted page. A good chunk of the sourcing is WP:PRIMARY, meaning that it was written by Llama himself. Be careful about the association with notable groups and people. Working with them doesn't automatically mean that he inherits notability from these groups - the general assumption with NBAND is that the performer will play a large enough role in the groups to where they would be mentioned in reliable sources. Showing up in the database credits on AllMusic doesn't establish this - you need reviews and articles that specifically mention him. Also something to be careful about with sources is to make sure that the sources discuss Llama in depth. Stuff like this could be considered a WP:TRIVIAL mention because Llama isn't the focus of the article. The article isn't about him and the basic gist is that he was brought in as a commentator, which isn't the type of coverage that shows notability on here. This one might be usable. It's a little brief, but it could be useful. However this brevity could be something that could count against it, as it's not really the strongest source to base notability on and people could argue that it's too short. This is good and the RTD is a RS on here, however the issue here is that it's local and these tend to be depreciated on Wikipedia. It's really difficult to establish notability on local sources. (This user used the preload form for AFC undeletion, but did not specify the name of the AFC draft they would like undeleted. Consider checking their deleted contributions.) Joel Sichera (talk) 08:54, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have to assume that you're asking for the restoration of the draft article. A look at the article shows that it's written in a very casual, almost promotional style that would need to be substantially, if not completely, rewritten in order to meet NPOV guidelines. I'm also concerned about notability - either one would be a barrier to acceptance at AfC. My recommendation here is for you to just start on a new AfC draft - however I do have to caution you that writing your own article is heavily discouraged on Wikipedia per WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO. File:DOORN Records.png

This image was restored by Magog the Ogre on Wikimedia Commons on September 7, saying that this logo is "pretty simple even for its home country" and "I think it is below TOO", but nine hours later, Natuur12 nominated this image for deletion again, saying "Restoring this file ingores a decade of Dutch case law" and this image was deleted by lNeverCry earlier on October 19, saying "better to leave this deleted than to guess and not be sure". However, it is unlikely that anyone is sure that this logo would be a copyright violation in the Netherlands, judged by c:Com:TOO#Netherlands, but it would be borderline. In the United States, this would not be a copyright violation, because the blocks can be seen as a typeface, forming the letters D-O-O-R-N, as Jcb has said that per this deletion request. I think that this logo should be restored here (not on Commons) and relicensed to {{PD-ineligible-USonly|the Netherlands}}. XPanettaa (talk) 20:38, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Graeme Bartlett, and I just feel compelled to share this journey! This is what makes Wikipedia fun past all the bureaucracy and vandalism we get muddled in. I am really using my brainskills here tonight! I'm of the mindset that anyone who has achieved the highest commendation in the world's largest youth movement is inherently notable; proving it is something different entirely. This stinker was definitely not mine, the dates were 30 years off, thankfully someone had left his name in Arabic on the Libyan Scout article. Can't read it, and when you punch in English on the Arabic Wiki it all comes out jumbled... BUT! I found his article there, (now linked) with a source with photos and everything. Tonight's a good night, thanks!--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:44, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about companies. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning companies will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.. JohnCD (talk) 10:46, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Udaiyan

The original article was deleted in 2009 as it was deemed that the artist was not notable. It looks like in the meantime he has had extensive coverage in the international press: Washington Post, Daily Mail and two articles in the Guardian newspaper. Other artists have individual pages with less press coverage. People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. This artist has had multiple coverage on different occasions from reliable independent international newspapers. He is also notable as he is the founder or the Cambridge Stuckists. - 217.33.181.41 (talk) 08:51, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You do not need to list all the references here. The article was redirected after WP:Articles for deletion/Udaiyan, so it cannot be restored here. You should apply at WP:Deletion review, giving a link to this version in the history, and citing any additional references not already there. JohnCD (talk) 10:41, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Hem1982:  Not done. You do not say what page you mean, but I assume it was User:Hem1982. The reasons why that was deleted were explained on your talk page:
  • Your user page is not for articles. When you start to edit it, you see a notice that says:
If you want to draft an article, please create a userspace draft instead of creating it here.
You may also want to read Wikipedia:Your first article, which explains what is expected of articles on Wikipedia.
Articles or promotional content, (including CVs or resumes) on user pages may be deleted. For more information on userpages, see Wikipedia:User pages.
If you want to try again, read WP:Your first article, collect indepndent references, and then use WP:Articles for creation to guide you through the process. JohnCD (talk) 16:18, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Peace Revolution

I am re-proposing an article with the name Peace Revolution, and would like to prove that the new proposal is better than the previous one. The previous article was deleted in 2009. -S Khemadhammo (talk) 13:07, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@S Khemadhammo: This was deleted after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peace Revolution and, as it says at the head of this page, articles deleted after a deletion discussion are not restored here. I see that you have made a draft and submitted it for review, good. It was not clear to me at first that it was about the same subject as the one deleted seven years ago, but checking the linked websites I see it is. In seven years it may well have become notable. What you should do is, apply at WP:Deletion review, with a link to your draft, so that if it is accepted at review there will be no obstacle to posting it. JohnCD (talk) 15:45, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you, JohnCD.--S Khemadhammo (talk) 16:10, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
JohnCD, at the top of Wikipedia:Deletion review#Instructions it says I should contact the admin who deleted the 2009 version of the article. I'm going to try and trace that person and contact—might take a while. What's your stance on this? --S Khemadhammo (talk) 21:12, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@S Khemadhammo: that admin is no longer active, so don't worry about it. Sorry, I should have told you that. JohnCD (talk) 21:25, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, JohnCD. I'm on it.--S Khemadhammo (talk) 21:49, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You know, S Khemadhammo, JohnCD, I think it would make most sense to just do a history merge of the deleted article with the draft. I see no harm in restoring the deleted edits to the draft history. Template:PlayerVB1

This template was deleted under T3, but it is not unused and does not appear to be a duplicate of anything. Deletion of this and other templates left red links in a few dozen articles. -– Jonesey95 (talk) 15:57, 23 October 2016 (UTC) The complete list of templates to restore is:[reply]

I do not think that any of these met the criteria for T3. I posted a note on the talk page of the deleting admin, RHaworth, with this request, but there has been no restore yet. Osplace may also be involved somehow. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:57, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Osplace, can you help here? I do not see a reference to another template or to a related discussion when I follow that link. I searched for the word "template" on that talk page and could not find a related discussion. I will post a request for help at the project's talk page.
The criteria for WP:T3 say "Templates that are substantial duplications of another template, or hardcoded instances of another template", but without knowing what the recommended other template was, it is not possible to reconstruct the articles and templates that used the deleted templates. I suggest that the templates should be restored, and then the original nominator should take them to TfD with a recommendation to subst or convert them to a replacement template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:59, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
When you follow the link, you fill find our "Previous club squads" discussion. This is the way we have been presenting the squads for volleyball international tournaments and club competitions. Mmhuang (talk · contribs) found that the basketball rosters they use and made a copy for volleyball, as a result, that user created all those templates. Since the first goal of WP Volleyball is Standardize the appearance and layout of volleyball related articles we asked him to join our discussion, but that user just made fun of us and never replied in our discussion. After several notes in his talk page, we proceed to T3, because all those templates together pretended to do the same we have been doing way simpler and consistently. He implemented that template, but we were only aware in time for the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship squads, but Dongmin1994 (talk · contribs) change it to the agreed uniform one. With all those red links we should roll back the affected articles. We tried to warn Mmhuang when he had only edited two articles, but he soon spread the template to all the Filipino volleyball articles without ever replying a single message in our discussion. Please do not restore anything. Thank you. --Osplace 17:11, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Comment left inside the Filipino-only changed rosters: Using system used by the PBA: flag = country of birth place. this is the system used to classify filipino foreigners. If we'd go to the principle of they are all Filipinos, let's just remove the flag column. PBA stands for Philippine Basketball Association. Take note all the affected articles were only edited and included with that template by the same user. --Osplace 17:19, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So it sounds like you are proposing to visit every article and template listed in Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:PlayerVB1, for example, and roll back each of those articles and templates to a version that does not use a deleted template. If so, that works for me, and let me know if you need help. I suggest that if there is a next time, those reverts should be done before the deletion of the templates so that we don't break live versions of Wikipedia articles that now look like this. I sympathize with your situation of having an editor who will not participate in a good-faith discussion, but our obligation to our readers is to deliver them articles that are reasonable in appearance. Thanks for coming here to respond. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:43, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is my proposal and yes I am willing to help editing every article that need attention. --Osplace 03:04, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I recommend starting with Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:PlayerVB1 and fixing the templates in that list. Fixing the templates will fix most or all of the articles, which you should be able to WP:PURGE to remove red links. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:36, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Aniket Jadhav

Aniket is one of the rising football superstar of India. I am a huge fan of him. If you google: Aniket Jadhav Football Player, you will find several news on him. So this is my request to refund the page. He really deserves it. Thanks. -59.88.147.91 (talk) 04:57, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aniket Jadhav, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Tone (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. JohnCD (talk) 09:20, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There was a very strong consensus for deletion. I suggest waiting until he plays more, that should fix the notability issues. --Tone 09:43, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CybrHome

CybrHome is one of the rising product company in India, the product is also popular in few European countries and US. It is the best tech product from NITK Surathkal after Practo. It helps people explore the internet/websites just like Pinterest helps people explore images. The product has no ads. It is also one of the few govt funded private organization in India. I am an avid CybrHome user and crowd-sourcing contributor on their platform and also a huge fan of their team and commitment. I had met them once personally during one event. The page was very well written with references and as far as I remember I had also made some edits, not sure. But there was no promotional content and was constantly being edited by various people for improvements. However, someone recently deleted the page completely without any notice or discussion. So, I request you to please read that page and restore it. If you want changes let me know and I can edit it before restoring but I believe people should really know about CybrHome. Thanks. Grachan Moncur II

File:Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers Coverart.png

Should be used again as an infobox image of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. I will put the Nintendo 3DS cover art into body article if the other is undeleted. Also, must use the Star Ocean (video game) as precedent. -George Ho (talk) 15:26, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, Graeme. The Sega Saturn cover art must be one of previous revisions; it should be recovered. --George Ho (talk) 02:33, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Let me note I have now tagged this as G11 and G12 (from its own website) and, Graeme Bartlett, it should not have been restored. SwisterTwister talk 22:37, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
