Vejlefjord’s Request

Would you, please, take a look at User:Vejlefjord/Theodicy and the Bible (3rd draft) and give me your opinion? Is the draft ready to go live? If not, please tell me what you think needs to be done as specfically as you can. Thank you. I will check back here next weekend. Vejlefjord (talk) 00:49, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It needs to be shorter. It's too essay-like. – Confession0791 talk 13:01, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking time to give me your opinion. Vejlefjord (talk) 19:56, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made a Talk Page to discuss the color. You can join in the conversation here.

preterism

Dear Confession0791,

I'm unhappy about you changing the article.

Hyper-preterism should never be called Full preterism which is a misleading description. Preterism, i.e. what you want to call classical preterism or orthodox preterism is a classical christian view on biblical eschatology. Hyper-preterism is a heresy held to and developed mostly by Arians. These two belief systems are very different and have utterly different history.

(Matthew 24 revers to the destruction of Jerusalem, which happened in 72 ad and has been known by christians through out history. Hyper-preterists pretend that the resurrection already took place during that period i.e. they think that christians can no longer look for the resurrection.)

This is evidently not either catholic nor evangelical and falls outside of the spectrum of classical christianity. Yet hyper-preterists insist on using a term based on the belief formulated by the "classical" preterist Luis de Alcasar in the sixteenth century. Now, de Alcasar was formulating a belief that most of the book of revelation had happened in the passed, hence the name. This belief is consistent with the post millennialist view on eschatology but utterly different from the hyper-preterists, which is as aforementioned not consistent with orthodox christianity. It is therefore incorrect to use terms such as 'full preterism', or 'consistent preterism' (which is derogatory) regarding a belief which is completely different from the preterist belief (which is then supposed to be partial-preterism).

I ask you therefore not to change the article as terms and words should be as easy to understand as possible. Hyper-preterism goes beyond preterism hence the term ύπερ or above, this is historically correct usage of the term 'preterist' (cf. de Alcasar).

Please stop abusing the English language and show academic decency.

Best regards,

Daniel — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.4.251.97 (talk) 15:45, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your statement, as I am a partial preterist. However, we are going with the most commonly used terms which are "partial preterism" and "full preterism". Terms like "hyper preterism" and "consistent preterism" are either peacock words or weasel words and are used mainly by supporters or detractors of any particular movement, respectively. While we can include these terms in the article, they should be limited to an explanation of their uses by those movements. Be sure to thoroughly read Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. — Confession0791 talk 21:25, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

August 2013 WikiProject Christianity Newsletter

ICHTHUS

August 2013

From the Editor

Welcome to the August 2013 issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter. We focus on the historical Jesus and reflect on the last month.

The project has another featured picture, The ruins of Holyrood Chapel, a digitisation of an oil-on-canvas painting. Our top-importance article, Jesus, has been nominated for Featured Article status, the discussion can be seen here; Knights of Colombus has also been nominated as a FAC.

Ecgbert (bishop) and Church architecture in Scotland have both this month achieved Good Article status.

Our project had several of its articles featured in the main page DYK section, including Hinckley Priory, Little Chapel, St Peter's Church, Ropsley, Chip Ingram, St John the Evangelist's Church, Corby Glen, Great George Street Congregational Church, St Mary's Church, Walton-on-the-Hill and Bunge church.

Our thanks go to all of those who have worked to achieve these article milestones.

Church of the month

This image, of Maillezais Cathedral and created by Selbymay was this month promoted to featured picture status.

Focus on...

THE
HISTORICAL JESUS

What was Jesus like? What did he preach? Did he claim to be the Messiah? Did he predict an apocalypse? What can we know about him outside a religious context? The Historical Jesus article discusses what can be known about Jesus with various degrees of probability. While scholars agree on the over all flow and outline of Jesus' life (his baptism by John, debated Jewish authorities, healings, and his crucifixion by Pilate) they have built various and diverging portraits of the rest of his life. These range from minimalist portraits that accept very little of the gospel accounts to maximalists who accept most of the accounts as historical.

The portraits of Jesus have at times been unwitting reflections of the researchers themselves, and Crossan once quipped that some authors "do autobiography and call it biography". However, the study of historical Jesus has made one thing clear: there is so much to learn about Jesus that the more one looks, the more there is to discover.

From the bookshelf

Jesus of Nazareth: An Independent Historian's Account of His Life and Teaching by Maurice Casey 2010 ISBN 0-567-64517-7

In this book Maurice Casey not only draws on his special expertise in the Aramaic traditions and the Q source, but provides a comprehensive review of the various approaches to the historical Jesus.

Birthday

That guy who changed Ryan Newman's birthday to the 23rd seems to be doing that to everyone whose birthday is April 24th. He keeps doing it to Will Champlin's page. Be on the look out for the next time he does it, I guess. You can delete this. FaceOffTournament (talk) 20:00, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion, please

In Calvinism the chart 2.4.4 “Comparison among Protestants” contains (a) only one vague citation and (b) material that contradicts well-documented material in the Calvinism article. Please give me your opinion of my draft of a replacement table at User:Vejlefjord/FullWikiTable - draft in which I have (a) added citations for every cell, (b) corrected spelling, and (c) conformed table’s content to its context. Thanks. Vejlefjord (talk) 20:08, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, but you should also start a conversation here. — Confession0791 talk 20:22, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your prompt reply. The talk on Template talk:Comparison among Protestants does not seem to be current or to resolve issues. Would it be OK for me to place the revised chart in Calvinism? That would give an actual edit for comments, objections, or further edits. Vejlefjord (talk) 20:50, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Go for it. — Confession0791 talk 20:51, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bell pepper colors and varieties

Normally, it's good practice to use the citation needed template instead of rolling back to a previous state, where citations are desired (at least for a while). But, maybe you know a policy that I don't. Anyway, would reputable sellers of those varieties (like Burpee, Baker Creek, etc.) that I had in the varieties section you deleted count as reliable sources for each? According to Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) it seems they would be considered reputable, since they match the criteria. So, I might just do that. Shoreu (talk) 05:03, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just make sure it's all sourced. :) — Confession0791 talk 06:51, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. :) Hopefully I'll have time to work on that. Shoreu (talk) 09:30, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

all those edits of "static" re writing the page are going to need consensus. They are also edits which removed many sources and article information. Which is Clear in the edit History.CombatMarshmallow (talk) 21:19, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Minor edits

Hi, Confession0791.

This is not a big issue at all, but for future reference, this is not a minor edit because it changes the meaning of the passage.

Okay, you and User:TheTruthiness win

Quick! Delete this post! Otherwise you might actually read it!

and make sure you delete the post in the other guy's page, lest he reads it!

Very well, Lauren Southern is a libertarian because a few glorified blogs say she ran in an election on the LPC ticket. Deletion is better than discussion—it's the Donald Trump way. In a way I almost hope he wins—you likely Americans might just deserve him. I'll give up editing WP for a few days perhaps—save for ELs to WT—because I'm ticked and I don't like being ticked—and yes, it's my problem—if such minor editing is okay with you guys. Savour your victory. You won!! You guys should also edit Conservapedia—there you can really pile on how great Lauren Southern is—maybe. Meanwhile, I'll be more skeptical of WP articles—why even bother when it's that little more a mirror of the aforementioned glorified blogs. I suppose I should start my own website—it just might be a better use of time. If you wish to reply, do it on Truthiness page. Merry Samhain.199.7.156.134 (talk) 06:53, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Confession0791. You haven't deleted my recent edits. (only a matter of time I suppose)

I'm feeling better. How are you? I hope you aren't taking this personally as that'd be emotional energy wasted: something I unfortunately do here in WP on occasions. Here's one among my three favourite John Lennon songs (don't worry, it ain't Imagine). Check out Mae Dominguez's QUESTIONS FOR MEN answered by an ex-feminist. Now why doesn't she have an article? Bob Black does. Here's his, an anarchist-of-sorts, critique of feminism: Feminism as fascism. Much better than Southern, no? I wonder what Southern would think of this music video? You callin' me a troll? Gotta source it, bub. Here's two articles: Wikipedia:WikiFauna (which one am I?) and Wikipedia:Don't-give-a-fuckism; the latter particularly somewhat applies to me. Good Day sir! [with mock anger]. Make America Great! \m/ party on! 199.119.232.221 (talk) 09:07, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
