Kazbek Gekkiyev, was a Russian television journalist who was killed on 5 December 2012 in the North Caucasus Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.[1] He was the seventh journalist murdered in ten years in the North Caucasus region.[2]

Kazbek Gekkiyev was a Russian television journalist murdered as he was walking home from filming a evening newscast. According to two witnesses, two men approached him and ask for his name and occupation and once Gekkiyev said his name one gunman shot him three times in the head.

[1]==Career== Kazbek Gekkiyev was a was a news anchor for the regional affiliate of state-owned broadcaster VGTRK. In addition to his anchor duties, Gekkiyev covered social issues for VGTRK.
